Phenomenon Observed Since The 1990s Transforms European Village When Centuries-Old Mulberry Releases Jet Of Water After Winter Explanation Involves Natural Underground Springs Known To The Local Population Annually

Imagine walking through a quiet village and coming across a centuries-old mulberry tree that functions like an open tap. In Montenegro, Europe, this rare event transforms the bucolic landscape into a point of curiosity that attracts locals and visitors every year.

The phenomenon draws attention not only for its visual appeal but also for the apparent mystery surrounding the tree.

The event has been repeating annually since the 1990s, soon after the end of the cold season. During this time, people gather around the mulberry to witness the moment when water begins to spring from the trunk, creating an unexpected natural spectacle in the rural setting.

The Visual Of The “Magical” Mulberry In Dinoša

Water gushes directly from the wood with impressive force, forming a jet that can reach about 1.5 meters in height.

The scene contrasts with the simple surroundings of the small locality and turns the tree into a temporary attraction for the region.

Local resident Emir Hakramaj reported in an interview with Free Europe that the plant’s cycle is well known in the neighborhood.

According to him, “this has been happening for the last 25 years or even longer. This tree is over 100 years old, perhaps even 150,” he said, commenting on the longevity of the mulberry and the regularity of the phenomenon, as noted by Free Europe.

The Reason For The Water Jet

The explanation lies in the underground springs located below the roots. When the water level rises after storms, the liquid finds a natural outlet in the trunk.

The pressure forces the water up through internal cavities until it is expelled outside. Emir emphasizes that this is not a legend, but a purely physical and natural process.

As a complementary detail, the plant world holds other surprising curiosities. There is, for example, an immense plant network in Fishlake National Forest, USA, that covers 43 acres and is considered one of the largest trees in the world.

There is also the so-called “Frankenstein Tree,” created by artist Sam Van Aken, capable of producing various fruits on a single trunk, showing how vegetation can surprise.
