The construction sector is undergoing a revolution in 2024, with a 30% increase in job openings in the state. Public policies and investments ensure the advancement of the job market. Currently, PATs offer more than a thousand opportunities in various roles.

O construction sector is experiencing a moment of transformation that promises to redefine the direction of the job market in Brazil.

In a week that celebrates the professionals who are part of this essential production chain, data reveals a significant increase in employment opportunities in the state of São Paulo.

But what is behind this unexpected growth?

Job growth: the impact of public policies

According to Secretariat for Economic Development (SDE), the number of construction job vacancies increased by 30% between January and November 2024, compared to the same period in the previous year.

This progress reflects public policies that drive job creation and economic development in the state..

The Civil Construction Union of the State of São Paulo (Sinduscon-SP) reported that the São Paulo sector represents 27,6% of the national segment, which is equivalent to 4% of Brazil's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

This highlight positions São Paulo as the main growth hub for civil construction in the country.

Currently, the Worker Assistance Centers (PATs) offer 1.234 vacancies throughout the state of São Paulo, with emphasis on the following roles:

  • construction worker: 440 vacancies;
  • Bricklayer: 349 vacancies;
  • Carpenter: 180 vacancies;
  • painter of works: 49 vacancies;
  • Installation electrician: 41 vacancies.

According to Mariana Rodrigues, SDE operations coordinator, “The growth in the number of jobs in the construction sector highlights the positive impact of public policies aimed at job creation and economic development. Our goal is to continue supporting workers and connecting them to market demands.”.

Free services and support for workers

In addition to job openings, PATs offer a variety of services to the population. These include:

  • Eligibility for Unemployment Insurance;
  • Guidance on the Digital Work Card;
  • Information about free professional qualification courses offered by the Qualifica SP program, promoted by SDE.

These services are not limited to workers.

Companies and employers looking for professionals can also use PATs to carry out selection processes free of charge.

How to apply for vacancies?

For those who wish to apply for one of the available positions, the process is simple.

Just go to one of the more than 200 PAT units in the state of São Paulo, taking your ID, CPF and work card.

The addresses of the units can be found on the official website: https://www.desenvolvimentoeconomico.sp.gov.br/pats.

A promising future for Brazilian construction

According to the data presented, the construction sector has been a fundamental driver in Brazil's economic recovery.

Job creation not only boosts the job market, but also reflects the importance of the sector for the development of the country as a whole..

Growth in São Paulo can be seen as a thermometer for possibilities in other states.
