Throughout 2022, Allog Group imported 203 tons to serve the segment and recorded over 300 processes of cargo movement in the sector during the year
The growth in demand for medications in Brazil has been expanding Allog Group’s participation in the movement of pharmaceutical imports to serve the national market. Although the Brazilian industry in the sector is among the 10 largest in the world, 90% of the raw material is imported, which increases the need for professionals who master international logistics of pharmaceutical products.
In 2022, according to data from the Annual Report of Sindusfarma (Pharmaceutical Industry Union), the value of sales in the Brazilian retail market was R$ 106.78 billion, 16.95% higher than observed in 2021. In dollars, sales reached US$ 20.70 billion, with a 22% increase compared to the previous year’s results. Imports of medications and pharmaceutical products from abroad reached US$ 7.1 billion.
Throughout 2022, Allog Group imported 203 tons to serve the segment and recorded over 300 processes of cargo movement in the sector during the year. From January to August of this year alone, there have already been 287 tons of movement, a jump of over 150% compared to the same period last year, when 112 tons were moved.

Amoxicillin Shortage
The shortage of the antibiotic amoxicillin on pharmacy shelves across Brazil in the first half of this year generated a massive demand for imports from Mexico, for example. From December 2022 to January 2023, Allog already helped bring 160 tons of the medication into the country.
The pandemic factor directly impacted the logistical process of the production chain, as all sectors required greater agility in cargo movement. According to Priscilla Morroni, Account Supervisor at Allog Group, it was during this period that the company intensified its specialization in the movement of cargo for the pharmaceutical market. “The sector grew during this period and needed specialists in the area to meet the demand,” Priscilla recalls.
International transport for the healthcare sector is rigorous and must meet strict global manufacturing, storage, transport, and distribution rules. “Understanding each of these stages is what ensures the global supply of medicines, medications, and vaccines,” she says. “Medications cannot be lacking in the market, and more and more, pharmaceutical companies are bringing innovations to the market and are ambitious in developing technologies from other countries in Brazil,” adds the foreign trade professional.
Air Modal as Priority
Due to the specificities and speed required by this segment, the transport of products to serve the pharmaceutical market is primarily carried out by air modal. Allog Group is a company specialized in the movement of pharmaceutical products that, in addition to partners with GDP certificates, has a team focused on meeting specific demands with temperature control, passive packaging, agility, and commitment to service.
