Construction: Sector That Opened the Most Slots in 2020 and May Generate Up to 200 Thousand Job Opportunities in 2021
The construction sector was one of the sectors that hired the most during the Covid-19 pandemic. The works, as they do not require highly skilled labor, provided various job opportunities for economically vulnerable people. It was the sector that created the most opportunities, both with signed work cards and with informal or self-employed workers, in 2020.
Experts indicate that after overcoming the challenges of supply shortages and rising input prices, the construction sector is expected to remain heated in 2021 and may generate an additional 200 thousand jobs this year.
The General Register of Employment and Unemployment – Caged, which evaluates only jobs with signed work cards, also indicates that the construction industry is the sector with the most jobs from January 2020 to November 2020: 157,881. An increase of 34.6% compared to the same period in 2019.
