With the goal of strengthening primary care and expanding access to complementary therapies, the Ministry of Health has launched a series of free online courses (EAD) on Integrative And Complementary Health Practices (PICS). Available on the AVASUS platform, the qualifications are currently open for enrollment for three distinct formations.
Among the free online courses (EAD) offered, the standout is the “Qualification Course for Health Professionals for the Application of Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapeutics in Wound Treatment.” With a workload of 140 hours, the course covers 36 types of medicinal and phytotherapeutic plants aimed at the integrated care of wounds. The training is aimed at health professionals, managers, and others interested in the subject.
Other Two Options Available Are:
- “Introduction to Integrative And Complementary Health Practices: Music Therapy,” with 60 hours, which presents the fundamentals of the therapeutic use of music;
- “Introduction to Integrative And Complementary Health Practices: Flower Therapy,” with 100 hours, which explores the use of floral essences to promote self-care and well-being.
There is also the “Module II – Qualification Course in Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapeutics in Primary Health Care,” with a workload of 60 hours, aimed at deepening knowledge about natural pharmacology.

Integrative And Complementary Practices
Integrative And Complementary Health Practices (PICS) have been officially integrated into SUS since 2006 and currently encompass 29 therapeutic approaches, including phytotherapy, music therapy, and flower therapy. These practices serve as a complement to traditional clinical treatments, promoting a more holistic approach to health.
The AVASUS platform also offers training in areas such as yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, and self-massage, strengthening access to knowledge about complementary therapies and expanding the care options available in the public health system.
