The city of Manaus is about to experience a historic transformation in its infrastructure with the announcement of the construction of a new port, which will be built in the Manaus Moderna area, in the historic center of the capital.
The project, which has an estimated investment of R$ 900 million from the federal government, promises to reconfigure river transportation logistics, modernize passenger services, and increase cargo movement, directly benefiting the riverside population, commerce, and regional tourism.

With the presence of Mayor David Almeida, Vice Mayor and Secretary of Infrastructure Renato Junior, and Senator Eduardo Braga, who worked with the National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT) and the federal government to make the project feasible.
The structure will include movable bridges, floating platforms, passenger terminals, cargo handling areas, as well as administrative spaces and a retroport.
This modernization will ensure greater safety, efficiency, and accessibility in the boarding and disembarking of passengers, in addition to improving the flow of goods between the capital and the municipalities in the interior of the Amazon.
Dignity and Respect for Those Who Use the Port Daily
For workers who have been dealing with the difficulties of the current port area for years, the construction of the new port represents an essential step toward valorization and dignity.
“It’s not just about infrastructure. We can no longer accept what has been happening for decades. Now is the time to resolve and provide humane treatment for those who depend on this port every day. It’s about respecting those who have worked here for years under inhumane conditions. It’s about giving dignity to those who arrive and those who depart. We know the daily drama of those who depend on this port, and now is the moment to address what has been pushed aside for decades. With support, partnership, and courage, the city will finally turn this page,” said Renato Junior, emphasizing that the impact goes far beyond infrastructure.
The new construction arrives to break decades of neglect in the port area, where thousands of people deal daily with outdated structures, lack of accessibility, and operational risks.
Strengthening Aquatic Transport and Regional Integration
The construction of the new port in Manaus reinforces the strategic importance of aquatic transport for supplying the capital and moving riverside communities.
This mode, besides being sustainable and economical, is the backbone of logistics in the Amazon, connecting difficult-to-access areas and promoting food security for isolated populations.
“This is a new moment for downtown Manaus, for the people of the interior and the capital, with more dignified, safe, and efficient treatment for both passenger transport and commercial logistics in the region, and to support tourism development,” highlighted Senator Eduardo Braga, who has been actively involved in the project’s coordination.
New Port Centrality Will Boost Tourism and Economy
Located in one of the most emblematic areas of the city, the new port should create a new port centrality in the heart of Manaus, also favoring regional tourism, with adequate structure to receive visitors, in addition to promoting local commerce with greater agility and logistics capacity.
The city’s expectation is that the bidding for the executive project will take place this year, and the construction is expected to begin in the coming months.
According to Mayor David Almeida, the project symbolizes a real advancement for Manaus.
“On behalf of Manaus, I thank the federal government, Senator Eduardo Braga, and everyone who is joining forces for this advance. We are addressing historical problems of the city with much work and responsibility.”
The new port of Manaus represents more than just a construction project: it is an infrastructure policy aimed at inclusion, efficiency, and sustainable development.
With the unity between municipal, state, and federal powers, the Amazonian capital positions itself for a future of greater regional integration, job generation, and appreciation of the people who make the city a strategic hub in the Amazon.
