Federal Institute IFCE Opens Slots for Free Distance Learning Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. Online Classes, In-Person Meetings, and National Validity.

Federal Institute of Ceará offers a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with distance learning and in-person meetings on Saturdays; learn how to apply

If you have always been curious about understanding what lies behind numbers, formulas, and mathematical equations, this could be your chance to turn interest into profession.

The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) is accepting applications for the Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics in the Distance Learning Mode, offered for free through the Open University of Brazil (UAB) program.

The degree combines online content with in-person meetings on Saturdays and may be the gateway for those who wish to teach mathematics in basic education or simply deepen their knowledge in the field.

Classes will start in the second semester of 2025, and applications are already open on the Q-Selection portal until April 25.

Flexible Education for Those Looking to Reinvent Themselves

According to the IFCE announcement, the course will be offered at the hubs in Camocim, Itapipoca, Meruoca, Orós, and Ubajara, all in the state of Ceará. Each unit has 36 available slots, totaling 180 opportunities for new students.

Despite the focus on distance education, the degree requires mandatory in-person meetings.

These meetings, which will take place on Saturdays, aim to promote practical activities and in-person assessments, ensuring the quality of teaching and the connection with the support hubs.

Additionally, students will have access to synchronous (live) classes, providing a more interactive experience closer to that of a conventional classroom.

The rest of the content will be made available asynchronously, meaning the student can access it at their own pace, making it easier to balance with work, family, or other activities.

To apply, it is necessary to have completed high school and taken the Enem between 2015 and 2024. Performance on the national exam will be used as a selection criterion, according to the rules stated in the announcement.

Science That Moves the World

Mathematics is present in practically everything: from the construction of bridges and buildings to the algorithms of social networks. Studying this science is understanding the invisible gears that make the world work.

According to experts, a degree in this area not only prepares the professional for teaching but also develops skills in logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving, which are increasingly valued in the job market.

For those curious about how numbers shape everyday life, this degree can be the first step on a fascinating journey. Moreover, the training can open doors to public competitions, postgraduate programs, and opportunities in private and public educational institutions.

How to Apply and Secure Your Spot in the Mathematics Course

To participate, simply access the website https://qselecao.ifce.edu.br and complete your application by April 25, 2025. It is important to read the announcement carefully, gather the required documentation, and follow all phases of the selection process.
