Economy: Public Asset Auctions Generated Over R$85 Billion in 2022, with More Than 84 Assets Transacted With the Private Sector on the Stock Exchange Last Year

It is important to note that in the previous year, more than R$ 85 billion were transacted with over 84 assets. In addition, the highlights of the operations that were carried out last year (2022) included the seventh round of auctions by Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency).

The agency offered the concession of approximately 15 airports, including the most famous, Congonhas Airport, located in São Paulo. Moreover, the privatization of the Companhia Rio-grandense de Saneamento was the first in the sanitation sector.

Thus, according to the B3 Stock Exchange, the R$ 85 billion in bidding processes were responsible for the concession of approximately 2,900 km of highways to the private sector.

In the energy sector, this money also contributed to more than R$ 19 billion in investments. Additionally, this auction also secured over 6,000 km of transmission lines for electricity, which even led to discounts of 58% that should be paid by municipalities using public lighting. However, it is worth noting that 34 municipalities were also benefited with more than R$ 8 billion in basic sanitation investments.

It is also very important to remember that two subway lines carrying over 1 million passengers per day also benefited from this amount. The novelty is that six parks that receive more than 4 million people a year also receive a share of this amount.

Thus, it is extremely important to emphasize that B3 (Stock Exchange) is also committed to contributing to the economic and even social development of the country, and it has been operating for more than three decades.

The aim is to connect private sector investors to infrastructure projects. The superintendent of licensing processes, Guilherme Peixoto from B3, stated: “We seek to offer technical quality, fairness, and transparency, alongside great partners, and to promote a qualified business environment.”

It is also important to remember that in the year 2022, the financial volume fell below the movement of 2021, as 102 public assets were sold or granted, generating over R$ 90 billion in investments, which greatly helped the country’s economic development.
