Mini container house project in the Argentine mountains drew attention for its intelligent use of 15 m², custom furniture, and construction completed in just 90 days. The compact residence, created by a 64-year-old retiree, is located in a natural reserve in the province of Córdoba and has become a family gathering point.

After ending her professional career and reorganizing her routine, Argentinian Silvia Valdivia, 64, decided to invest in a new life project in the mountains of Córdoba province, Argentina.

The retiree chose the Villa Flor Serrana region to build a 15-square-meter mini house amidst nature.

Developed from an adapted container, the property was completed in about 90 days and features custom furniture, compact solutions, and a wooden interior finish.

Located within the Cascada Los Chorrillo Private Natural Reserve, the residence is in an area known for its mountainous landscapes and rivers in central Argentina.

Silvia began frequenting the place in 2021, a period during which she started looking for a quieter space to spend some time away from the urban routine.

In a statement given to the Argentine portal Infobae, the retiree stated that she decided to buy the land after a visit to the natural reserve.

While walking along the riverbanks, Silvia said she developed a strong connection with the environment and decided to invest in the property a few days later.

“We were drinking mate near the river when I saw horses coming out of the water and rolling in the sand.

One of them came towards me and, at that moment, I felt that was the place,” she told the Argentine outlet.

Mini Container House Replaced Traditional Construction

After acquiring the land, Silvia discarded the possibility of building a conventional house and began researching compact models on social media.

It was during this period that she found containers to be a faster alternative to execute the project and adapt the property to the available space.

To bring the idea to life, the retiree hired a specialized company from the city of San Francisco, Córdoba, responsible for developing the structure and adapting the internal space.

About three months after production began, the mini house was delivered completely finished.

The owner stated that she followed all stages of assembly and was moved upon receiving the first images of the finished property.

For her, the house represented the realization of a change planned for years.

What the 15 m² House Built in the Argentine Mountains is Like

Despite its reduced dimensions, the residence was designed to concentrate different functions in a single environment.

The space features an integrated living room, equipped kitchen, full bathroom, and water heater.

The furniture was custom-made to make better use of the internal area.

Built-in cabinets and multifunctional compartments help organize the house without compromising circulation.

The property’s single main opening functions simultaneously as an entrance door and a panoramic window.

Double glazing was used to enhance natural lighting and contribute to the thermal comfort of the metallic structure.

The interior cladding, on the other hand, received a wooden finish on the ceiling and walls.

In addition to the more welcoming visual aspect, the material was also chosen to balance the internal temperature throughout the different seasons of the year in the mountainous region of Córdoba.

Tiny houses gain ground in Argentina

In recent years, so-called “tiny houses” have gained ground in different countries in Latin America and Europe.

The concept involves compact residences, usually built with a focus on functionality, cost reduction, and intelligent use of small spaces.

In Argentina, the growing interest in modular homes and adapted containers accompanies the expansion of projects aimed at natural areas and smaller cities.

Specialized companies have started offering prefabricated models capable of reducing execution time compared to conventional constructions.

In addition to quick delivery, many projects use industrialized materials and ready-made structures, which facilitates transport to regions far from large urban centers.

In the case of Silvia’s house, its location in a mountainous area required logistical planning for the installation of the structure and adaptation of the terrain.

Compact house became a family meeting point

Even with only 15 square meters, the mini house also became a family meeting point for special occasions.

Silvia stated that she usually hosts relatives and friends at the property during holidays and special celebrations.

At one New Year’s celebration, seven cars arrived at the property for the get-together.

As the internal space could only accommodate three people for sleeping, the other guests set up tents around the property.

The retiree stated that she maintains a frequent routine at the house and usually spends several consecutive days there throughout the year.

According to her, the property was designed to offer practicality and direct contact with the natural landscape of the Argentine mountain region.

The project also attracted attention on Argentine social media after the images of the compact property were released.

Internet users mainly highlighted the efficient use of internal space and the integration of the structure with the mountainous landscape of Córdoba.

Villa Flor Serrana, where the residence is located, is close to well-known tourist towns in the province, such as Villa Carlos Paz and Tanti.

The region attracts visitors interested in hiking, rivers, and outdoor activities, especially during the warmer months of the year.
