The memorandum between Eletrobras and Rosatom

The agreement between the companies, valid for three years, covers topics such as the construction of nuclear power plants in Brazil, projects for the development of terrestrial and floating reactors and waste management. The cooperation agreement includes other possibilities, such as construction techniques and the fuel cycle. President of Eletronuclear, Leonan dos Santos Guimarães highlighted the importance of the agreement for the company and the development of nuclear power plants in Brazil. Development of nuclear power plants in Brazil

According to the Valor Econômico website, there is also a forecast for cooperation between the companies for the reprocessing of materials from nuclear power plants, the closing of the nuclear fuel cycle and the management of radioactive waste, in addition to the joint implementation of education and training projects in the nuclear segment. .

“Brazil is one of Rosatom's main partners in Latin America in several areas, mainly in the field of nuclear medicine. I am sure that the signing of the memorandum will help us to open a new stage of fruitful bilateral cooperation, since the country has been following a path to expand the participation of nuclear generation in the national energy balance”, commented the first deputy general director and director of the development and international business unit of the Russian company, Kirill Komarov.
