Elon Musk Projects Revenue of Up to US$ 30 Trillion with Optimus Robots, but Acknowledges Mass Production Is Still Far Away
Elon Musk has once again caught attention with one of his bold predictions. During the “Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley 2025” event, the billionaire stated that Tesla’s robotics division, called Optimus, could generate up to US$ 30 trillion in annual revenue in the future.
According to Musk, this amount would be achieved if the company can manufacture one billion robots per year, each costing US$ 30,000. “It will likely be the biggest product in the world,” he declared.
He estimates that the global market can accommodate up to 20 billion units. Still, he acknowledged that there is a long way to go to reach that goal. “There is a long way between where we are and making a billion a year,” he said.

Currently, Tesla plans to produce a few hundred units by the end of 2025. The initial forecast was for “a few thousand,” but design changes have delayed the engineering schedule.
The company expects to ramp up production more aggressively starting in 2026.
Tesla’s strategy involves using artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing to scale the project. The idea is to make the Optimus robots an essential part of the automaker’s portfolio.
The robotics market has sparked great interest. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, recently stated that robots could become the largest market in the world.
According to him, the sector could surpass even real estate, consumer electronics, and automobiles.
Musk also highlighted this potential. For him, robots are not a threat to human jobs. On the contrary, he believes they could lead to an era of abundance.
“I have never seen any technology advance as quickly as AI,” he said. He defined this advancement as a “supersonic tsunami.”
Even with such bold projections, Tesla is still in the early stages of the project. The mass production of Optimus robots remains a plan for the coming years.
