Trucks Will Be Dedicated To The Transport Of Agricultural Products From The Industry And Retail, Enabling Expansion Of The Company’s Logistics Services Across The Country
A.P. Moller – Maersk, a global giant in logistics services, announced that it will expand its operations in land transportation after the purchase of new trucks ordered from Volkswagen. The Danish company acquired 222 new trailers and 113 “mechanical horses” (EURO 5 Meteor and Constellation), marking the largest batch of this model ever delivered by the manufacturer.
The new trucks delivered by Volkswagen are designed for road transport of cargo over medium and long distances. Thus, Maersk will expand its business involving the food and beverage sector, electronics, household items, and even personal use items.
The company expects to deliver an even more effective experience to its customers. In practice, while one container is being unloaded, another can already be connected to the mechanical horse and head out. There are now 162 owned trucks handling end-to-end logistics in more regions of Brazil. All monitored 24 hours a day, in real-time, with a specialized team stationed in a control tower.

Is Amazon becoming a “global post office”? Big Tech opens its logistics to any company, puts more than 100 planes and warehouses on the market, and makes UPS and FedEx lose about 10% on the stock market by raising the delivery dispute to a new level.

Amazon opens its powerful logistics structure to third-party companies and transforms freight, import, inventory, and deliveries into a new global bet.
“Our customers are increasingly seeking a service with operational excellence. Along with this signaling, we advance in building an end-to-end network on land for our clients. Investments in Brazil to expand our own fleet will allow a valuable experience for our clients’ journey in line with our global strategy. It is important to highlight that our land transportation network (Landside Transportation) also has strategic partnerships across the national territory.”

Job Openings
Maersk states that it will create 147 new job openings for drivers and administrative professionals due to the expansion of routes and goods to be transported.
New Land Fleet Will Align With New Port Businesses
With this significant purchase from Volkswagen, Maersk strengthens its routes from São Paulo to Amazonas and expands its operations, now running in Bahia, Pernambuco, and Santa Catarina, places where the company has established itself in legal battles for new businesses.
At the Port of Itajaí (SC), the port authority accepted APM Terminals’ proposal of R$ 2.3 million for temporary leasing after the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (Antaq) declared that it was up to the Port Authority to choose the best option to maintain the operations of the Itajaí port.
Initially, the winner of the bidding was CTIL Logística with a proposal of R$ 4 million. However, Antaq stated that it identified weaknesses in the process and announced that the decision of the bidding is up to the municipality. CTIL Logística is still assessing what legal measures it will take.
In September, the company inaugurated a warehouse at the Cajamar Port in São Paulo. It spans 19,400 square meters of a facility strategically located near major fast-moving consumer goods markets, retail, technology and electronics, fashion, and lifestyle, among others.
In July, Maersk won a contentious auction for a plot at the Atlântico Sul shipyard in the Port of Suape, Pernambuco. The process was marked by a controversial legal dispute. The company intends to handle 400,000 containers at the site.
Maersk’s Series Of Record Profits
The third quarter of 2022 for Maersk was marked by a 37% increase compared to the same period last year in maritime, logistics & services, and terminals operations. EBITDA and EBIT rose about 60% compared to the third quarter of 2021.
Revenue for July, August, and September rose to US$ 22.8 billion, EBITDA increased to US$ 10.9 billion, and EBIT rose to US$ 9.5 billion. Profit was US$ 8.9 billion in the third quarter and US$ 24.2 billion in the first nine months of the year.
According to the company, the ongoing momentum in strategic transformation, growth in Logistics, and maritime contract values above the previous year were the main drivers of performance improvement.
“Our third-quarter result was another record and the 16th consecutive quarter with year-over-year profit growth. Maritime freight rates, which drove the exceptional results we delivered in 2022, rose again both year-over-year and compared to the second quarter of this year. However, it is clear that freight values have peaked and started to normalize during this quarter, driven by both decreased demand and relief in supply chain congestion. For the first time, revenue in Logistics exceeded US$ 4 billion in a quarter, and we expect to continue outperforming the Logistics market based on acquiring new customers.”
