A Leading Energy Company Has Received the License to Install an Innovative System in the USA, Standing Out Not Only as a Technological Advancement but Also as a Milestone for the Sector.

Eco Wave Power, a leader in wave energy, has achieved a historic feat by receiving the final license to install its innovative system in the United States.

This is the first project of its kind in the country, which will be implemented at AltaSea Ocean Institute, at the Port of Los Angeles. The goal is to convert wave motion into electricity in a sustainable and efficient manner.

Final License and Strategic Location

The approval was granted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, marking a crucial step for the development of the renewable energy sector.

The installation will consist of eight floats attached to a concrete pier, along with an energy conversion unit containing two 20-foot containers already positioned on site.

This system, according to Eco Wave, is designed to operate with waves of a minimum height of 1.6 feet. In extreme conditions, the floats automatically adjust, rising above the waves until the sea returns to safe levels.

Execution in Partnership with Shell

Expected to be completed by early 2025, the project is in partnership with Shell, which joined the initiative in April 2024. The collaboration between the companies promises to accelerate the implementation of the technology.

According to Eco Wave Power’s CEO, Inna Braverman, the impact goes beyond technical innovation. “This project is a milestone in the transition to renewable energy in the USA. We thank all the partners involved, such as AltaSea, Port of Los Angeles, and Shell, for making this journey possible,” said Braverman.

How Does the System Work?

The principle of the technology is simple and efficient. The floats capture the natural movement of the waves, converting it into electricity through an automated system.

The process is continuously monitored to ensure maximum performance and safety.

The idea of using wave power is not new, but Eco Wave has managed to adapt the concept for land-based environments, avoiding complex floating structures and reducing operational costs.

A Leap Toward Sustainable Energy

Although wave energy is less known than wind or solar energy, experts believe it can play an essential role in the global energy matrix.

According to the company, this technology offers stability, as wave movement is more predictable than wind or sunlight.

Additionally, the location at the Port of Los Angeles is strategic.

The site, one of the busiest in the USA, will allow the project to serve as a showcase for other coastal cities seeking sustainable solutions.

Next Steps

Now, with the license in hand, Eco Wave begins the final stage of installation, connecting the floats to the conversion unit.

The expectation is that the system will generate up to 100 kilowatts of energy, providing clean and steady electricity.

This technological milestone reinforces the importance of investments in renewable energy sources, especially at a critical time of global energy transition.
