With the concession of Rumo Logística's rails for the installation of Surf Tech's fiber optics, the company will be able to use the railroads to develop a true 5G technology network and bring quality internet to municipalities in the national territory.
The internet and technology company Surf Tech signed a contract with the company Rumo Logística and its project is already under development. This is the installation of a fiber optic network over more than 14 km of railways managed by the company throughout Brazil, as a way of offering 5G technology to the country's municipalities.
Partnership between Surf Tech and Rumo Logística will enable the transmission of 5G technology through the installation of a fiber optic network on Brazilian railways
Aiming at an increasingly technological and digitized future, Rumo Logística has just entered into a partnership with the company Surf Tech for the concession of its tracks and the installation of a fiber optic network on the company's railways. In this way, the technology company will install this service in more than 14 kilometers of the concessionaire in Brazil and will use the rails to take 5G technology to Brazilian municipalities.
Rumo's rail network crosses a total of 9 states in the national territory and, with the contract, will be responsible for bringing quality internet to the population of that region, through Surf Tech's fiber optic network. And, in its first stage, the partnership with the logistics company Rumo provides for an investment of R$ 1,5 billion, which will be raised via the issuance of debentures by Surf Tech. Thus, Rumo will participate in the partnership only by granting its railroads so that this installation can be carried out.

The entire fiber optic network was well designed by the technology company to ensure quality connectivity in the municipalities of these nine states. Thus, the total fiber mesh will have a capacity of 1 Exabps, equivalent to about one billion Gpbs. In this way, the company's new internet network will be a million times more powerful than a submarine cable that connects Brazil to the United States. Surf Tech will then be able to reinforce its presence in the fiber optics business in the country and will attract more investors to its business.
More than 500 municipalities crossed by Rumo's railways will benefit from 5G technology after the installation of the fiber optic network
5G technology is the new bet for the digital world throughout the global territory and guarantees much more efficiency in online browsing. In this way, the more than 500 municipalities crossed by the Rumo company's railways will be able to have a totally efficient and quality connection after the installation of the fiber optic network. Thus, Surf Tech will ensure that various sectors such as logistics, health and education have gains in capacity and development with the use of technology.
In addition, Rumo Logística will also benefit from even greater connectivity in its operations in the nine states, thus achieving a prospect of growth in the agribusiness sector with the use of its railroads.
Rumo’s executive manager for the Development of Associated Businesses, Renato Caldo, commented on the contract and highlighted its importance: “This partnership represents a milestone for the country’s infrastructure and brings good results to all those involved, both for companies and for citizens who will largely benefit from the transformation brought about by 5G. Both Rumo and Surf Tech are committed to joining efforts to leave a lasting legacy for society”.
