Founded in 2020, Ocean Winds is responsible for one of the four projects that are in the licensing process, which continue at Ibama, for the execution of offshore wind power plants on the coast of RN.
The company was created by the merger of Engie Energia and EDP Renováveis, which already have onshore wind farms in the state. Recently, Engie signed a protocol with Ibama for its offshore wind energy project on the coast of RN, in the region of São Bento do Norte.
Investment in the park is at least R$ 25 billion, generating approximately 4 jobs during construction, and around 1.400 when the project starts operating. Mariana states that the company is taking the project as an opportunity for an important step, which is the green hydrogen generation, since the natural vocations of the RN point to a cheap production, becoming the smallest in the world in the sector.

Jaime Calado pointed out that offshore wind energy projects, such as this one, still depend on the regulation of the sector and he hopes with optimism that the promise that the regulation will be completed this year.
He claims that it is a great opportunity to approve Senator Jean Paul Prates' PL proposal, which promises to bring enormous legal security to businessmen. There was emphasis on the government of Fátima Bezerra, which made the renewable energy sector, such as wind energy, a priority, in view of the natural vocation and excellent capacity of the RN. Therefore, the Energy Sectorial Chamber was created, which deals with offshore energy generation and green hydrogen.
