Many Jobs for Bahia! Siemens Signs Billion-Dollar Contract to Install 70 Turbines at the Santo Agostinho Wind Farm – RN, of French Engie
Good news for Bahia, Siemens Gamesa (SG) took advantage of the recovery of the renewable market in Brazil and secured its second major contract in the country in two months. The Siemens subsidiary will provide the French company Engie with 70 turbines of the 5.X model, which will be built at its factory in Camaçari – BA and can generate many jobs in the region. SG’s first contract in Brazil was for the Tucano Wind Farm of 312 MW signed in April 2020.
“This agreement highlights how attractive the Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform is becoming globally, and we are pleased to continue developing a close partnership with Engie in Brazil. The country is really becoming a beacon for wind energy in Latin America,” said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, CEO of Siemens Gamesa’s Onshore business. A system that sets prices and provides stability to operators, who should not have to pay attention to the evolution of market prices.

Siemens adds contracts of 1.21 GW in Brazil with the 5.X turbine. Globally, there are 2.2 GW with the same model. A very significant volume in this industry, achieved in less than two years since the commercial launch of the wind turbine.
