Tracking the Growth in the Solar Energy Market in Brazil and the High Demand for the Resource, the Pernambuco Companies Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia Have Joined Forces for a New Solar Complex Construction Project in the State.
The northeastern companies Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia are developing a new large project for the state of Pernambuco, a solar energy production complex. As of this Friday (07/15), it is known that the construction will involve a total investment of R$ 340 million and aims to meet the high demand for solar energy in the northeastern market, as well as attract new businesses to the state of Pernambuco, which has high potential for harnessing this resource.
New Project by the Pernambuco Companies Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia Will Be a Solar Energy Production Complex to Meet High Market Demand
The Pernambuco companies Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia have joined forces and announced their latest project for the state of Pernambuco, a solar energy production complex that will be installed in the region. Named São Pedro e Paulo, the newest complex in the area is being constructed in the municipality of Flores, in the Sertão de Pernambuco, with construction having already started in June and an expected completion date in early 2023.
The solar energy production complex of the companies will be responsible for supplying a total of 101 megawatts-peak (MWp), with 30% of the energy directed to contracts in the free market (ACL) and 70% to the regulated market (ACR), through PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) that have already been signed with other companies. Thus, Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia will be able to significantly expand their presence in the renewable energy production and commercialization segment in the northeastern region.

In addition, the companies announced that the construction project for the solar complex has a total investment of R$ 340 million, with financing provided by Banco do Nordeste (BNB) at a cost of R$ 218 million.
Finally, the companies’ projections for the potential production of the resource show that the complex’s capacity will be equivalent to that used in the entire Pajeú region, which has 150,000 households. This will become a reference project for the state of Pernambuco and will contribute to attracting investors to the sector in the area.
The Solar Energy Market is Booming in Brazil, Focusing on Distributed Generation, and the Company Seizes the Moment with Kroma Energia for a New Project
The companies Elétron Energy and Kroma Energia are taking advantage of the favorable scenario for renewable energy to develop the new project in the state of Pernambuco, as the solar energy market is booming in Brazil. Thus, another project scheduled to be inaugurated before 2025 in the state is by Enercom Renováveis, which had already presented the solar energy generation project.
This is the Luiz Gonzaga II Solar Plant, which will be installed in the municipality of Terra Nova, 600 kilometers from the capital Recife, and will have an installed capacity of over 30 MW, thus producing enough to serve more than 100,000 people. Construction began in 2021, and the complex’s completion is expected in 2025, provided that the construction project proceeds as planned.
In solar energy production, the distributed generation model is the most sought after in the state of Pernambuco. “On average, we receive 2,000 distributed generation projects per month and connect approximately 1,500. The growth in 2021 was 200%,” highlighted Rafael Motta, the Large Client Relationship Manager at Neoenergia, regarding the sector’s growth in the state.
