Northern Minas To Receive One of the Largest Solar Power Plants in the World Expected to Deliver in 2023
With delivery expected in 2023, the construction project for one of the largest solar power plants in Brazil will begin this year. Moreover, being considered from now on one of the largest not only in Brazil but in the world – according to information, the creation of this solar energy complex will generate more than 600 job openings directly for Brazilians. In the end, the amount invested in the solar power plant will reach over 3 billion reais.

Solar Energy Production From the Complex Could Supply Over 1.2 Million Families
Undoubtedly, solar energy can be considered one of the 7 best things ever harnessed by mankind – and with the construction of the solar complex in northern Minas, specifically in Janaúba, it could positively change the national economy.
Similarly, the contract for the start of construction involving the solar power plant revolves around two companies – Solatio, a solar project developer, and Brookfield Renewable Energy. Walter Fróes, who is one of the leading consultants at Solatio and president of CMU, approved the partnership for Brazil.

Words From the President of Solatio Regarding the Solar Power Plant in Brazil
“It is a mega park, with an installed capacity of about 1200 megawatts. This is enough energy to supply approximately 1.2 million residences. Thus, construction should begin in the second half of this year, and energy will start being delivered in the second half of 2022. Completing all the plant’s capacity in the first half of 2023,” he explains.
“It will be injected into the basic grid. Of course, a condition for building such a park is that there is availability to inject energy on-site,” he details.
“Finally, I would like to mention that Solatio is investing in distributed generation, which is another modality, where we intend to deliver energy with a discount of about 15% for residences and also for small businesses, clinics, offices, etc. This work has already begun. Starting in July, we will begin opening our plants, and within 12 months, we will have a total of 60, 70 plants ready. This would mean an investment of more than R$ 1 billion in Minas,” he concludes.
