Plan Includes Network Expansion, Service Interiorization, and Biogas Integration by 2030

ES Gás, the natural gas distributor in Espírito Santo operated by Energisa, presented a R$ 1 billion investment plan to the state regulatory agency by 2030. The proposal aims to expand infrastructure, serve new municipalities, and incorporate biogas as a complementary energy source.

Expansion of the Natural Gas Network and Service to New Regions

The ES Gás project includes the expansion of the gas pipeline network by 480 kilometers, with the expectation of connecting 92,000 new residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. The proposal plans to bring natural gas to five municipalities in Espírito Santo that are not currently served: Pedro Canário, Nova Venécia, Domingos Martins, Mimoso do Sul, and Jaguaré. The company estimates the installation of over 30 industries during this new phase of the concession, directly contributing to regional economic strengthening.

Integration of Biogas into the Natural Gas Infrastructure

One of the unique aspects of the plan is the integration of four biogas plants into the ES Gás distribution network. The use of this renewable fuel is aligned with the state’s emission reduction goals and reinforces the transition to a cleaner energy matrix based on natural gas. According to Eixos, this measure could avoid the emission of up to 900,000 tons of CO₂ per year by 2030.

Investments in Modernization and Safety

Of the total R$ 1 billion planned, R$ 230 million will be allocated to modernizing existing infrastructure. The focus is on updating operational systems and ensuring the safety of natural gas distribution, with an emphasis on new GNV supply corridors on highways and the installation of high-flow nozzles for heavy vehicles. The proposal also includes the digitalization of processes and improvements in the energy efficiency of operations.

Contribution to State Development

The investment plan of ES Gás is aligned with the ES Mais+Gás program, coordinated by the government of Espírito Santo, which aims to expand access to natural gas and stimulate energy competitiveness. The measures are expected to contribute to attracting new businesses, generating jobs, and interiorizing energy infrastructure. The expectation is that, with the approval of the state regulatory agency (Arsp), the works will begin in the coming months.
