The Project Will Accept Applications Until February 22 and Will Offer Two Scholarships for Undergraduate Students

The reopening of the Model Office of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of the Technical Scientific Center of PUC-Rio (CTC/PUC-Rio) is scheduled for March 1, 2021. The resumption of the initiative focuses on immersing students in the routine of professional practice while getting them closer to social and environmental issues.

Initially, the Model Office will aim to carry out projects for PUC-Rio itself and support the solutions of the Model Architecture and Urbanism Office, but will also seek to develop independent studies as proposals for the reuse of materials and components discarded by other industries in affordable housing. The goal is to apply academic knowledge to solve problems both inside and outside the university campus.

“The Model Office aligns with the New National Curriculum Guidelines for Engineering education, which emphasize that the university must contribute to the training of engineers in terms of theoretical foundation, skills, and competencies,” says Prof. Daniel Cardoso, coordinator of the Civil Engineering course.

Two scholarships will be offered to students, but there will also be opportunities for volunteer students. At this time, all activities will be conducted remotely. Undergraduate students from the Civil and Environmental Engineering programs interested must apply by February 22 by sending an email to joelvieira@puc-rio.br with a brief account of the activities they are currently engaged in and their interest in the office.
