The Beginning of October Shows Ethanol Declining While Gasoline and Diesel Remain Stable.
In October, the price landscape of major fuels in Brazil was subtle. Ethanol experienced a slight decrease, becoming an economically favorable alternative for flex vehicles in several regions. On the other hand, diesel and gasoline demonstrated notable stability.
Slight Decline in Ethanol
In the week from September 29 to October 05, gas stations recorded a decline of 0.37% in the price of hydrated ethanol, reaching a national average of R$ 3.763 per liter. This value is R$ 0.014 lower compared to the previous week. The analysis provided by ValeCard also highlights that the option for ethanol has become more advantageous in states like Rio Grande do Norte, Tocantins, and Paraíba due to this decrease.

Brendon Rodrigues, Head of Innovation and Portfolio at ValeCard, points out: “The volatility of renewable fuel prices is mainly influenced by high production and increased demand due to its economic attractiveness compared to gasoline in certain states.”
Gasoline Remains Stable
In the same period, gasoline experienced an almost imperceptible increase of 0.07%, with the national average at R$ 5.990 per liter. ValeCard highlights that, despite this small increase, September recorded a rise of 2.51% compared to August.
Brendon Rodrigues observes that the recent stability in gasoline prices may be due to a decrease in Brent oil prices in the global scenario. Thus, he suggests that there may not be significant price adjustments from Petrobras in October.
Minimal Variation in Diesel
Diesel, essential for various sectors of the economy, showed surprising stability, with a negative variation of only 0.22%. The price fluctuations of fuels are crucial for the budget of many Brazilians and also for logistics and transportation companies.
Conclusion
With the economy becoming increasingly digital, tracking fuel price variations becomes vital for both consumers and companies. The data provided by ValeCard offers a comprehensive view of the market, aiding in informed decision-making. By staying updated on these values, it is possible to better plan expenses and seize opportunities.
