Brazil’s Chicken Meat Exports Totaled 4.822 Million Tons in 2022, a Record and 4.6% Above Total Exports in 2021, Driven by Conflicts in Ukraine and Health-Related Issues in Some Countries (ABPA).
According to data released last Tuesday (10), Brazil’s chicken meat export revenue reached US$ 9.762 billion, another historic result, a 27.4% increase compared to 2021, aided by additional support from higher prices, reported ABPA, which represents companies like BRF and JBS.
What ABPA Says About Brazil’s Chicken Meat Export Numbers
Considering both fresh and processed products, chicken exports reached 386.3 thousand tons in December, 6% below exports in the last month of 2021. However, chicken export revenue increased by 9.2%, to US$ 785.2 million in December. Among the main destinations for Brazil’s exports in 2022, China remains the top destination, with imports of 540.5 thousand tons, but 15.6% less than in 2021.
“The reconfiguration of the international animal protein market, marked by the effects of the conflict in Eastern Europe, rising production costs in the European Union, and the health situation of poultry across the five continents, is among the determining factors for the records registered…,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin in a statement.

“In this context, Brazil, which has never recorded cases and is free from Avian Influenza, remained a safe haven for the global chicken meat supply and is expected to sustain the same levels of exports in 2023,” he added.
In second place were the United Arab Emirates, which imported 444.9 thousand tons last year, 14.2% more than total shipments the previous year. Other highlights included the Philippines with 246,300 tons (+46.5%), the EU with 237,900 tons (+22.8%), and South Korea with 185,400 tons (+62.9%).
