The Australian Army Is Seeking Brazilian Military Personnel to Join Its Team. Those Who Meet the Requirements Will Receive a Salary of Up to AUD 17,000 Per Month.

The Australian Army regularly opens career opportunities for foreign military personnel and veterans, including those who have been transferred to the paid or unpaid reserve in the last three years. According to information from Military Society Magazine, the next application period is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2024.

Learn Which Brazilian Military Personnel Can Join the Australian Army

The program, which has been in place for several years, aims to integrate qualified military professionals from various countries into the Australian Armed Forces, provided they meet the criteria and their qualifications are verified. Brazilian military personnel interested in joining the Australian Army must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a maximum age of 48 at the time of application;
  • Have at least 5 years of full-time military experience;
  • Be an active member of a foreign military service or discharged from it for less than 3 years;
  • Possess professional skills and competencies that are applicable and beneficial to the Australian Army;
  • Comply with the minimum education and military training standards established by the Australian Army;
  • Proficiency in the English language, demonstrated through the International English Language Testing System, covering speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills.

According to the Australian Army, after submitting the complete application package, it will be reviewed to confirm whether the applicant’s skills and qualifications can be readily transferred to the Australian Army for a designated position.

Immediately before their move to Australia, the candidate must attend an Australian Embassy or High Commission to complete their appointment or enlistment ceremony.

Learn How to Apply for the Program and Earn Up to AUD 17,000 Per Month

Approved candidates will have the opportunity to migrate with their dependents. The Australian Army will facilitate the acquisition of the Contract Work Visa (Subclass 186), necessary for the candidate and their dependents to enter Australia.

The Letter of Offer, sent to candidates who meet the requirements, contains a formal job proposal as a soldier in Australia. This must be accepted or rejected by the candidate within a maximum of 14 days. The letter outlines the employment conditions such as start date, category, classification, initial location, and remuneration.

It is important to note that these terms are fixed and not subject to negotiation. The average annual salary for a soldier in the Australian Army is approximately AUD 70,000, equivalent to about AUD 210,000 annually or AUD 17,000 per month. These amounts should be considered alongside additional benefits offered, which may include housing, medical, and educational services.

Get to Know the Australian Army

The Australian Army is the land military branch of Australia, part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), along with the Navy and the Air Force. While the Chief of Defence (CDF) commands the ADF, the Army is commanded by the Chief of Army (CA).

The Chief of Army is thus subordinate to the Chief of Defence but is also directly accountable to the Minister of Defence.

With 30,764 active military personnel and 14,662 reservists, the mission of the Australian Army is to provide a powerful, versatile, and up-to-date army to promote Australia’s security and protect its people. Additionally, the publication of the Army’s basic doctrine, The Fundamentals of Land Warfare, states that “the mission of the army is to win the land battle.”
