Revival of Textile Fairs in São Paulo
São Paulo, once the birthplace of the largest textile and clothing fairs in the country, continues to be a crucial hub for fashion business with important centers like Brás and Bom Retiro. ‘We have everything to revive this heritage of textile fairs in São Paulo, attracting national and international buyers,’ says Julio Scudeler, president of Sinditêxtil-SP.
Importance of the Textile Industry in Brazil
According to Abit, Brazil is one of the five largest textile and clothing industries in the world, with around 24,000 companies employing approximately 1.3 million workers. Brazilian production reached 2.1 million tons in 2022, generating a total revenue of R$ 193 billion, with US$ 4.8 billion coming from exports.

‘Brazil is the largest complete Textile Chain in the West,’ declares Fernando Pimentel, executive director of Abit. The country is one of the few with production in all links of the value chain, from cotton planting to fashion shows, passing through spinning, weaving, finishing, and manufacturing, as well as a strong retail sector with about 140,000 clothing stores.

Valuing National Exhibitors
‘At the fair, we highlight the value of national exhibitors, promoting the production of the fashion industry in Brazil,’ explains Ricardo Gomes, manager of new projects at FebraTêxtil. The event aims to provide information and knowledge to increase the competitiveness and quality of national production.
