This project is the result of a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Health, included in the National Program for Technical Training for the Unified Health System (Formatec – SUS).
The central objective is to strengthen the public health network through the specialization of professionals at the secondary level.
Located in the Cristo Redentor neighborhood, the campus occupies the former building of the Conceição Hospital Group School (GHC), a space that was officially integrated into IFRS in 2025.
Selection process and deadlines to secure one of the spots
To compete for the free technical nursing course, interested parties must participate in the 2026/02 Student Selection Process of IFRS.
Admission to the Federal Institute will occur through two classification methods: taking a test organized by the institution itself or using the results obtained in the National High School Exam (Enem) from editions held since 2020.
Official registrations must be made exclusively through the website ingresso.ifrs.edu.br, between April 23 and May 4, 2026.
Although the process has a fee, there is the possibility to request a fee waiver (exemption from the fee).
People registered in CadÚnico and with a family income of up to one minimum wage per individual can make this request between April 9 and 21, 2026.
It is important to emphasize that, regardless of the result of the fee waiver request, the candidate must complete the final registration in the system to validate their participation.
Curriculum structure and routine of the free technical course
The training will have a total workload of 1,920 class hours, distributed over two years of the course.
The teaching model will be hybrid, with 80% of the activities in-person in the afternoon and the remaining 20% conducted remotely (EaD).
Additionally, the curriculum has been organized in a progressive manner, starting from basic concepts to high-complexity care.
The course is divided into four thematic semesters:
- 1st Semester: Focus on ethical foundations and practical bases of the profession.
- 2nd Semester: Assistance focused on maternal-infant and adolescent health.
- 3rd Semester: Dedicated to specific care for adult patients.
- 4th Semester: Focus on elderly care and end-of-life care and bioethics.
In addition to theoretical classes, the structure includes 480 hours of supervised curricular internship and 108 hours of general training, which include subjects such as computer science and mathematics applied to medication calculations.
Location and Infrastructure of the Federal Institute
The North Zone Campus is located in a strategic point of the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul, at Avenida Francisco Trein, 326, next to the Conceição Hospital.
This physical proximity to a major hospital center favors the integration of students with the routine of the health area from the first months of classes.
On the other hand, students will have access to an environment that promotes not only teaching but also participation in research and extension projects.
According to the guidelines of IFRS, the nursing technician course has been structured to offer a humanized and integral view of the patient, preparing the professional to act with technical competence and sensitivity in the Unified Health System (SUS).
Important Information:
- Total vacancies: 36 for the initial class.
- Registration Period: 04/23 to 05/04/2026.
