Discover The Main Problems Of The Fiat Strada, According To Owners. Despite Reported Issues, The Pickup Remains The Best-Selling Vehicle In Brazil.
Best-selling in the compact pickup segment since 2021, the Fiat Strada has won over drivers across the country for its versatility and cost-effectiveness. Launched in 2020, its second generation arrived with a design inspired by the Fiat Toro and unprecedented technologies in the category.
However, with almost five years on the road, complaints from users have started to appear.
The most common reports involve oil leaks and issues with the engine cooling system, especially in models equipped with the Firefly 1.3 and 1.0 Turbo versions.

Ducati brings to Brazil the Superleggera V4 Centenario: 228 hp that become 247 with a track kit, carbon fiber and carbon-ceramic brakes, estimated price between R$ 1.5 and 2 million, deliveries only in 2027.

These complaints have emerged in different regions of Brazil, recorded on sites like Reclame Aqui and in automotive forums.
Although they do not compromise the good reputation of the pickup, they raise questions about the durability and maintenance of the model, which has already surpassed the mark of 500,000 units produced in Betim (MG).
How The Fiat Strada Consolidated Its Position As The Best-Selling Vehicle
The success of the Fiat Strada is not recent. Since its first generation, launched over 20 years ago, the pickup has dominated the national market.
The renewal in 2020 brought significant changes, such as standard stability and traction controls, four doors on the double cab versions, and a greater focus on safety with side airbags and the Isofix system.

In addition, Fiat invested in a wide range of engines. Initially, the Endurance version maintained the well-known Fire 1.4 engine, while the others received the modern Firefly 1.3.
In 2022, the pickup was a pioneer in launching the CVT automatic transmission in the segment. Already in 2023, it incorporated the 1.0 turboflex engine with 130 hp, combining power and efficiency.
These evolutions explain why the model became the best-selling car in Brazil during certain periods. However, as reported, not everything is perfect.
Main Problems According To Owners
Despite its recognized robustness, some points draw attention. The oil leak appears as a sporadic issue, without much frequency.
On the other hand, cases of coolant leaks have been more recurrent, especially in the Firefly 1.3 engines and in the T200 1.0 Turbo.
One reported case on Reclame Aqui came from Brasília (DF), where a customer mentioned that their newly purchased Strada Turbo began to lose liquid even while parked in the garage.
When seeking help from the dealership, they faced difficulties with service, even though it was still under warranty.
These situations lead to dissatisfaction among consumers, even if they do not represent a widespread problem across the entire fleet.
“I purchased a Strada Turbo at the end of 2024. After the inspection done at the dealership, it started leaking water from the engine underneath the car, even while it was parked. I called the store where I made the purchase, and it was requested to take [the vehicle] to the service station. Upon arrival, they wanted to charge me to find out the problem, even though the car is still under warranty,” reports a customer from Brasília (DF) on Reclame Aqui.
Is It Worth Buying The Fiat Strada?
Despite the complaints, the Fiat Strada maintains a good reputation in the market. Its simple mechanical setup, reinforced suspension, and large cargo bed continue to be strong points.
Moreover, the pickup offers features that were previously restricted to larger models, such as a multimedia system, traction controls, and automatic transmission.
For those seeking a compact pickup, the model still stands out as the most balanced option.

However, it is essential to research well the desired version, talk to other owners, and conduct reviews at authorized dealerships to avoid headaches.
The second generation of the Fiat Strada remains a benchmark in the compact pickup market, but the reports of main problems according to owners raise a warning sign, especially regarding the cooling system.
Although it does not undermine the vehicle’s success, the manufacturer should closely monitor these occurrences to maintain consumer confidence.
After all, the model has earned its prominent position through reliability, and any perceived fault could impact its leadership in the coming years.
