Kia is launching a new SUV Coupé that promises to reach the Brazilian market 'stealing' sales from the giants Nivus and Fastback. The vehicle will cost less than R$120.
Kia presented its new line of compact models and the K3 hatchback, which is more of a crossover and its Sedan variant, are models that impress with their visual size and onboard technology. Today we will talk specifically about the hatchback that would be a perfect competitor for the Nivus and Fastback in Brazil, as the model has many features of a new SUV and even has a Coupé feel.
New rival to Nivus and Fastback has the longest wheelbase in the segment
Kia confirmed here for Brazil that it will bring a hatch with a Flex hybrid engine and its size will be compact and it is obvious that the only option to consider is the K3. The new SUV Coupé is built on a safer and more sophisticated platform.
In terms of dimensions, the new K3 hatchback is very large and we have a size close to that of the new Honda City and Volkswagen Nivus. It is 4,29 m long, the largest wheelbase in its category at 2,67 m, 1,76 m wide and 1,79 m high. It weighs a light 1198 kg and can still accommodate a good 390 L of luggage in the trunk. suitcases.
- New popular car costing R$60 is a success, surpassing Onix, C3, HB20 and others to become the CHEAPEST new car in Brazil
- Will fines be issued? Average speed radars are being installed in different locations in Brazil
- New Law means that obscene gestures in traffic will result in heavy fines and loss of points on your driver's license
- New generation of the Hyundai Tucson: the national hybrid SUV that does up to 33 km/l arrives in Brazil with 252 hp of power
In appearance, the SUV Coupé, which will compete against the Nivus and Fastback, is indeed very beautiful. At the front we have full LED headlights, tapered and connected by the grille and the sports bumper has Piano Black detail.
On the sides, the Kia has a chrome window frame, as well as 17-inch wheels with a diamond finish and a roof hack in Black Piano. Moving to the rear, the K3 hatchback adopts an integrated spoiler, sports bumper with deflector and interconnected full LED headlights.
New SUV can deliver up to 150 horsepower and 20,5 kgfm of torque
In terms of engine, in neighboring countries, where it is already sold, the model arrived offering two options, but it will be a third that will equip it in the Brazilian market. Entry configurations in other countries feature the well-known 1.6 four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine, which is the same as the HB20.
The new SUV Coupé delivers 121 horsepower and 16,3 kgfm of torque coupled to a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, and the performance and consumption averages are sufficient for the national market.
The top versions are indeed impressive and we have available with them the 2.0 four-cylinder aspirated engine that runs only on gasoline, which is the same one that equipped the Cerato here and is still available today in the Hyundai Creta.
In this case, there are 150 horsepower and 20,5 kgfm of torque, associated with a transmission that can be manual or automatic, both with six speeds. With this engine, performance is excellent and consumption averages are reasonable.
Here for Brazil we will have a new and exclusive engine, where Kia confirmed the 1.0 three-cylinder turboflex set with direct fuel injection, which will be equipped with a 48 V generator, being an updated dual-fuel version of the Stonic's engine, which is a mild hybrid. We will have approximately 130 horsepower and more than 20 kgfm of torque in addition to the seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission.
New SUV Coupé delivers several technologies
Inside, the model that will compete with Nivus and Fastback is very similar to another very cool car from the brand, in this case the Niro, which features a finish that combines synthetic leather and hard plastic. The interior space is excellent thanks to the very generous wheelbase.
The list of equipment is complete and we have a face-to-face key, two-zone digital climate control, induction cell phone charging, electrically folding mirrors, configurable ambient lights, driving mode selector, multifunctional steering wheel, complete configurable digital panel and much more.
The multimedia center comes with a 10,2-inch screen and has native GPS, rear camera, as well as wireless connectivity for Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Now talking about safety, the new SUV Coupé K3 hatchback arrives offering a very complete package. It features, in the Top versions, items such as adaptive cruise control, lane correction assistant, collision alert, autonomous emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, braking for maneuvers and much more. Its price, in direct conversion, is around R$111 thousand, excluding fees and taxes.
