Seven-seater SUV produced in China receives visual update, retains Maverick’s 2.0 turbo engine, gains a cabin focused on technology, and remains positioned above the Territory, even costing less than the utility currently sold by Ford in the Brazilian market.

The restyling of the Ford Edge L 2027 reinforced the proposal of the Chinese SUV to operate in a more sophisticated range, bringing together seven seats, 2.0 turbo engine, hybrid option, and a cabin strongly focused on technology and occupant comfort.

Even positioned above the Territory within Ford’s range in China, the model starts at 229,800 yuan, an amount that corresponds to approximately R$ 165,600 in direct conversion made with the current exchange rate of the Chinese currency.

Meanwhile, the Territory remains the brand’s most affordable SUV in the Brazilian market and appears in a single Titanium version with a suggested price of R$ 219,900, according to official information released by Ford itself.

Ford Edge L remains restricted to few markets

After two generations marketed in countries like Brazil and the United States, the Edge ceased to operate as a global SUV and began to follow a strategy mainly concentrated in the Chinese market, where it maintains local production in partnership with Changan.

Besides China, the utility also appears in Mexico in a hybrid configuration, discreetly expanding the international presence of the project, although Ford still treats the model as a regional offer aimed at specific markets.

Within the manufacturer’s Chinese lineup, the Edge L occupies a position superior to the Territory and the Equator, betting on three rows of seats, more refined finish, and greater equipment offering for families seeking more internal space.

2.0 turbo engine delivers up to 275 hp in the hybrid version

Under the hood, the conventional version uses the well-known 2.0 turbo four-cylinder engine from the EcoBoost family, a set already used in other brand products and which delivers 252 hp of power in the SUV sold in China.

Associated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine meets the more traditional proposal of the model, prioritizing performance and comfort in a larger-sized utility aimed at family use.

On the other hand, the HEV hybrid variant combines the same 2.0 turbo engine with an electric system, achieving a combined power close to 275 hp, always accompanied by an eCVT transmission aimed at energy efficiency and smooth driving.

Ford has not released new performance or consumption data specifically related to the Chinese facelift of the Edge L.

Therefore, figures such as acceleration, top speed, and official averages should be treated as unconfirmed information for the updated line.

Facelift makes the SUV more robust

Although the structural base remains practically unchanged, Ford has made important adjustments to the external design to bring the Edge L closer to a more modern visual language aligned with the latest Chinese SUVs in the category.

At the front, the thin LED headlights are now better integrated into the front grille, creating a more continuous visual set and reducing the sense of separation between lighting and air intake.

Additionally, the grille has gained a more rectangular shape and the bumper now uses straighter and more voluminous lines, reinforcing the perception of robustness without abandoning the technological profile characteristic of the utility vehicle.

At the rear, the taillights have become smaller and lost the triangular extension seen previously.

The license plate has been moved to the bumper, giving the tailgate a cleaner appearance and greater emphasis on the body creases.

Ford Edge interior bets on 27-inch screen

Inside the cabin, the Edge L follows an increasingly common trend among medium and large Chinese SUVs, betting on a clean look, few visible physical controls, and a strong presence of digital surfaces on the dashboard.

The main highlight is the set formed by the digital instrument cluster and the 27-inch horizontal multimedia center, a solution that creates a wide continuous visual band in front of the driver and passenger.

According to the information released for the Chinese model, the finish uses soft-touch materials and leather upholstery, while the second row may feature individual seats with electric adjustment to enhance internal comfort.

This arrangement reinforces the family positioning of the SUV, especially in markets where seven-seater vehicles are in high demand.

Even so, the exact configuration may vary according to version and country, as occurs in other global models adapted for different regions.

Ford has not yet confirmed the arrival of the SUV in Brazil

Despite the converted price drawing attention, the Chinese value does not indicate how much the Edge L would cost in a potential import to Brazil.

Taxes, freight, commercial margins, homologation, and exchange rate differences would significantly change the final price in Brazilian dealerships. So far, there is no confirmation of the Edge L’s launch in Brazil.

Ford maintains in the country a lineup formed by imported vehicles, with the Territory as the brand’s most accessible SUV, in addition to models like Bronco Sport, Maverick, Ranger, and Mustang.

The Edge L, therefore, remains a product of regional strategy, created to primarily serve markets where Ford operates with local partners and specific offerings of large SUVs.

In Brazil, the brand has not yet indicated an intention to reoccupy this space with a seven-seater utility vehicle above the Territory.
