Solventum, former 3M health division, prepares new factory in São Paulo to expand medical production and supply Latin America.
The transformation of one of 3M’s most strategic divisions into an independent company has begun to gain industrial scale in Brazil. Solventum, created from the separation of 3M’s health care business, confirmed the advancement of plans to build a new factory in Jarinu, in the interior of São Paulo, in a project that reinforces Brazil’s growing importance within the Latin American chain of medical devices and technologies.
The new industrial unit is expected to occupy more than 20,000 m² and was planned to concentrate production, distribution, and logistics operations aimed at the Brazilian market and other Latin American countries, and should be ready by 2027. According to information released by the company itself and reported by the economic press at the end of April 2026, the factory is also expected to generate approximately 250 direct jobs when fully operational.
Solventum emerges from 3M’s health division separation and accelerates industrial expansion in Brazil
Solventum officially emerged after 3M’s global reorganization, which decided to spin off its health division to create an independent company focused exclusively on medical technology and hospital solutions.

Heir worked at thirteen in an ice cream factory without revealing he was the owner’s son; today, at twenty-five, he leads the best-selling ice cream brand for home consumption in the Northeast, grosses almost R$ 300 million, has 145 stores, and competes with multinationals with regional flavors.

Lock manufacturer from Rio Grande do Sul invests R$ 150 million to surpass R$ 1 billion in revenue, create 200 jobs, and double storage capacity, while choosing Santa Catarina to set up a new logistics center and speed up deliveries in Southern Brazil.
The new company began operating in segments related to advanced wound care, sterilization, dental systems, hospital technology, clinical monitoring, and health information platforms. This move allowed the company to concentrate investments specifically in the medical sector.
Within this strategy, Brazil gained increasing importance due to the size of the regional market and its favorable logistical position for distribution in Latin America.
New factory in Jarinu will have over 20,000 m² dedicated to medical production and logistics
The future unit will be built in Jarinu, in the interior of São Paulo, a region that has been attracting industrial operations due to its proximity to São Paulo and the state’s logistical corridors.
According to information released by the company, the plant will have more than 20,000 m² and will function not only as a production unit but also as an integrated distribution and supply center for regional operations.
This means that a significant part of Solventum’s Latin American supply chain may now be coordinated directly from Brazil.
Project reinforces movement towards reindustrialization and regionalization of global supply chains
The announcement comes at an important time for global industry. After logistical problems faced in recent years, many multinationals began to reconsider excessive dependence on supply chains concentrated in a few Asian countries.
Companies then began to invest in productive regionalization, bringing factories closer to strategic consumer markets. Brazil appears in this scenario as one of the main industrial hubs in Latin America.
Solventum’s new unit fits exactly into this trend of strengthening regional medical industrial production.
Brazil has become an important piece for industrial operations aimed at Latin America
The size of the Brazilian market continues to be one of the main attractions for multinational companies in the medical sector. In addition to its large population, the country concentrates a large number of hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and private health networks.
At the same time, Brazil’s geographical position facilitates distribution to other Latin American countries. This transforms the national territory into a strategic point for regional industrial operations. Solventum intends to use this logistical advantage to strengthen its continental presence.
Factory expected to generate approximately 250 direct jobs in São Paulo
According to the information released in the project announcement, the new unit could generate approximately 250 direct jobs when fully operational.
In addition to industrial positions, the plant is expected to involve professionals from logistics, engineering, medical technology, quality, maintenance, and operational management.
Projects of this scale also typically generate indirect jobs related to transportation, suppliers, civil construction, and specialized services.
Company aims to expand production of medical and hospital solutions in the region
Although the company has not detailed all the products that will be manufactured locally, the expectation is that the unit will participate in the production and distribution of different medical technologies used in hospitals and clinics.
This includes solutions related to sterilization, advanced care, dentistry, monitoring, and products aimed at the hospital environment.
The regional focus helps reduce delivery time, logistical costs, and dependence on more distant imports.
3M separation allowed exclusive focus on medical technology and hospital innovation
The creation of Solventum marked an important strategic shift. By becoming independent, the company began to concentrate investments exclusively on health and medical technology, without dividing priorities with other industrial segments of the former 3M structure.
This increased expansion capacity in areas considered highly strategic, especially in hospital innovation, clinical monitoring, and advanced medical solutions. The new Brazilian factory is precisely part of this focused expansion process.
Solventum’s new factory shows how Brazil remains relevant in the global health industrial dispute
Perhaps the most important aspect of the project is precisely the strategic signal it represents. Even in an extremely competitive global scenario, multinationals continue to see Brazil as a relevant platform for industrial production, regional distribution, and expansion in Latin America.
Solventum’s new plant shows how the health sector continues to transform into one of the most strategic industrial areas of the modern economy, involving technology, logistics, innovation, and hospital infrastructure.
Ultimately, the project reinforces that the global competition for the medical industry does not only occur between laboratories and hospitals, but also between countries that try to attract factories capable of supplying entire markets with high value-added products.
