According to João Nunes, Secretary of Economic Development, “it is time to grow. The expansion of these industries shows that businesses are thriving and Bahia has much to gain from more investments and new jobs. Increases in production and industrial plants directly impact the economies of these regions and the State. We are working to attract more companies to the Bahia territory and create new job opportunities.”
Concerning Alumideste Industry and Trade of Packaging, the company specializes in producing polyethylene films, PVC film, waterproof papers, fractional coils of aluminum foil, and bags for fruits and vegetables. Located in the city of Feira de Santana, it will spend about R$ 2.3 million to expand this unit, allowing its annual production capacity to reach 99,000 tons.
How Will These Million-Dollar Investments in the State Generate Job Opportunities for the Population?
The good side of an investment is when, in addition to boosting the local economy, it also creates job opportunities for those seeking a chance in the job market. With these two companies investing in both Bahia municipalities, each city will have a certain number of job vacancies to distribute.
So far, projections regarding IBPC indicate an increase in the number of workers from 150 to 200 job openings. This means that only in Salvador, there will be 50 new job opportunities for residents. As for Alumideste, it has not yet disclosed the number of vacancies offered with the company’s expansion.
For Marcus Vinícius Cardoso de Andrade, partner at IBPC, “with this benefit we will see an increase in revenue, an increase in taxes being paid, and job creation. I believe that this year I will already see an increase in the creation of these jobs. We will also see an increase in the workforce in the State itself, as we emphasize that people come from the region, which is a significant gain for both the company and Bahia. I also intend to greatly increase our production capacity. The start of construction is immediate, and the completion timeframe is two to three years.”
