The announcement was made by Rodrigo Fumo, the executive leading the Industrial Motors area at WEG, the multinational from Jaraguá do Sul, in northern Santa Catarina. According to information from the NSC Total portal, the information was confirmed on June 22, in a social media post, after his visit to the Industrial and Production Director, Chen Lingjiang. In the coming years, WEG will increase investment in the city of Rugao to support the production of low and medium voltage motors, gearboxes training, and new electric motor technologies, and the new unit, focused on large rotating electric machines, is scheduled to open in early 2027.

The announcement was made by Rodrigo Fumo, the executive responsible for the Industrial Motors area at WEG, who shared images of his visit to the Industrial and Production Director, Chen Lingjiang. The new factory strengthens the company’s presence in the Chinese market.

Focus on large rotating electric machines

The new WEG unit will focus on large rotating electric machines and is scheduled to open at the beginning of 2027. In addition to discussing the results achieved in the past year and the company’s next strategic steps, Rodrigo Fumo indicated an acceleration of the plans.

Who is Rodrigo Fumo, WEG executive

Rodrigo Fumo is a Mechanical Engineer graduated from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), with a specialization in Lean Manufacturing and an MBA in Business Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV). He also has executive and technological training at WEG and the Steinbeiss Institute.

The executive participated in the Executive Program for Growing Companies at Stanford, California, and the Singularity University program focused on exponential technologies. At WEG since 2002, he has experience in industrial processes and the development of new products, having worked in China, Austria, and the United States, and assumed the leadership of Industrial Motors in April 2024.
