R$ 600 Benefit Reaches 1.6 Million INSS Beneficiaries. Refund Covers Undue Discounts Made in the Last Five Years and Has Already Exceeded R$ 1 Billion Paid.
The federal government launched an unprecedented action in August that directly impacts millions of policyholders. According to official information, a R$ 600 Benefit is already being paid to 1.6 million INSS beneficiaries, as a refund for undue discounts recorded in the last five years.
The refund aims to repair debts from associations, insurance, and other services contracted without authorization. More than R$ 1 billion has already been refunded to INSS beneficiaries only in this first batch, which went directly into the account along with the retirement or pension.
Who is Entitled to the R$ 600 Benefit
The INSS beneficiaries covered are part of a group identified through internal audits and legal agreements. These policyholders were victims of unauthorized charges between March 2020 and March 2025.

Although the average refund is R$ 600, the amounts vary according to what was unduly deducted. Some INSS beneficiaries receive larger amounts, while others receive smaller amounts, depending on their individual discount history.
Where the Money is Being Deposited
The payment is made automatically to the account where the retiree or pensioner already receives their benefit. It is not necessary to request or fill out any extra forms, which avoids bureaucracy.
According to the disclosed schedule, the government has reserved R$ 3.31 billion to cover all refunds. New batches will continue to be released over the coming months, covering INSS beneficiaries who are still under review or have documentation issues.
How to Check if You Received the Benefit
The policyholder can check the deposit on the Meu INSS app or website, accessing the “Payment Statement” option. There, it is possible to see all amounts received, including additional ones such as the refund.
Another option is to call Central 135, available from Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. With the CPF in hand, the attendant confirms whether the credit has already been released or is scheduled for the next batches.
Why This Refund Was Necessary
The measure was determined through a Provisional Measure signed by the government, after a series of lawsuits filed by consumer protection agencies. The objective is to correct abusive practices that affected millions of INSS beneficiaries, ensuring greater transparency and security in the management of benefits.
According to the government, the restitution also serves as a message to the financial market: there will be no more tolerance for automatic charges without formal authorization from the retiree or pensioner.
The R$ 600 Benefit for INSS beneficiaries represents financial relief for those who have already faced undue losses for years. At the same time, it reinforces the need for greater oversight over payroll deductions and greater protection for retirees.
And you, do you think this refund is enough to repair the damages suffered? In your view, should the government expand its oversight measures? Leave your opinion in the comments; we want to hear from those who live this reality.
