How Do the Spots for UFRGS’s Free Courses Work?
The spots for the Geography course are distributed across regional centers in the municipalities of Encantado, Picada Café, Santana do Livramento, Sapucaia do Sul, and Seberi. Meanwhile, the Cooperativism course has spots in Imbé, Picada Café, and Porto Alegre. Thus, even being online, students will have in-person support at these centers for activities that require more direct interaction.

UFRGS Admissions 2025
In addition to the free online undergraduate courses, UFRGS is also accepting applications for the Admissions 2025, which offers 4,023 spots across 97 different courses. The application deadline is September 23rd, and the exams will take place on November 30th and December 1st in various cities, including Porto Alegre, Canoas, and Novo Hamburgo.
In this edition, there were some important changes to the admissions process. Now, the reservation of spots for the Quota Program includes quilombola people, and the income criterion has been adjusted to one national minimum wage per capita (R$1,412.00).
The exams will be divided over two days. On the first day, candidates will write an essay and answer 15 questions on Portuguese Language, Literature, History, Geography, and Mathematics. On the second day, there will be 15 questions on Modern Foreign Language, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. In other words, it’s a very thorough selection!
