With high capacity for series cuts, the new technology used in the machinery will bring the group a competitive advantage over its competitors in the steel sector. In addition to this initial investment, there is also a projection of an additional R$ 8 million for the purchase of handling and cutting machines, which is currently under approval by the board.

According to Bruno Bassi, CEO of Açotubo Group, the acquisition of new machinery will bring benefits to the company’s operations, enhancing the performance of cutting in bars and mechanical tubes, where the company is a market leader in partnership with Vallourec. Furthermore, the purchase will also increase the company’s service capacity.

The investment announced by Açotubo Group is part of its new investment cycle for the years 2021 to 2023, which were announced at the beginning of this year. During this period, Açotubo Group plans to invest about R$ 120 million in various strategic and structural actions, starting with R$ 50 million just this year.

New Technologies Involving Eco-Friendly Steel Promise to Change the Steel Sector

Hybrit, a company from Sweden, has developed a completely eco-friendly steel. The material does not use any fossil fuel in its manufacture.

The project has been under development for five years, and a technology using hydrogen is employed in the production of the material. The Hybrit project in the steel sector is so promising that it already has interested customers and has made its first delivery. Among the interested parties is Volvo, the manufacturer of cars and trucks that ordered the material for automobile manufacturing.

Eco-friendly steel is innovative for the steel sector because the production of steel and iron annually generates about 2.6 gigatons of CO2 released directly into the atmosphere, and with the new technology, this value could be significantly reduced.
