Edge Group Announces Its Investment Plans in Brazil in 2025: In Addition to Partnerships with Universities, Emirates Company Plans Two New Factories for the Country.
The EDGE Group, one of the largest defense industry conglomerates in the world, plans to expand its operations in Brazil, continuing its strategic work initiated in recent years. The United Arab Emirates company intends to invest in the construction of two new factories on Brazilian soil, strengthening its presence in the military and technology sectors. According to experts, this initiative could boost the national defense industry, generate jobs, and promote technology transfer to the country. In this article, we will explore the EDGE Group’s objectives in Brazil, the impacts of this investment, and how it may influence the national defense market.
Edge Group Has Already Invested R$ 3 Billion in National Territory
The United Arab Emirates company, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has already made investments of R$ 3 billion in Brazil. In addition to partnerships in the public security sector with the state of São Paulo, in 2024 the Edge Group acquired 51% of the Brazilian company Condor Non-Lethal Technologies, one of the world’s leading producers of tear gas, smoke grenades, rubber ammunition, and related products.
In September 2023, the Emirates conglomerate announced the purchase of 50% of the Brazilian SIATT, a company that operates in the sector of smart weapons and high-tech systems. According to Rodrigo Torres, CFO of Edge Group, in an interview with CNN, the company’s ambitions for the country this year include investment in the establishment of two new factories and partnerships with universities.

Torres adds that, for this year, Edge Group is maintaining the same focus, as Brazil continues to be a highly strategic country. The company will inaugurate new factories, including the one for SIATT, which is already being installed in São Paulo, where more than 300 jobs will be created. It will be a technological center like the country has never seen before.
Investment in New Condor Factory
In addition to the new explosives facility in Caçapava, a new headquarters for SIATT will be established in São José dos Campos. The CFO stated that the Edge Group’s goal is to have this local missile production to enable exports worldwide, especially to Asia and Africa. In the case of Condor, the construction of the new unit has not yet begun; however, the focus will also be on export.
The non-lethal technology company already has a factory in Rio de Janeiro and plans to inaugurate a new unit in São Paulo. This facility will have a differentiated focus, aimed at the development and production of advanced technologies, such as body cameras and sensors.
According to Torres, the goal is to develop, manufacture, and export these innovations, expanding the group’s presence in the defense and security sector. The new factory will represent an important step for the company’s transition, as it seeks to shift from a conventional model to a more technological and innovative profile, aligned with the strategies of the EDGE Group from the United Arab Emirates.
Emirates Company Will Also Invest in Universities
In addition to the new factories, another new development for 2025 is the pursuit of partnerships with Brazilian universities, focusing on attracting local labor, especially in the technology sector. This strategy is commonly employed by companies from more developed countries, which seek professionals directly from the source, integrating academia with the production sector.
According to Torres, the idea is to engage strategic universities in the technology sector so that these partnerships can be established. It is also an intelligent way for the company to learn what new minds are thinking.
Thus, institutions such as PUC, Unicamp, and the Technological Institute of Aeronautics are among those interested. Continuing partnerships with the armed forces is also on the company’s agenda for 2025. In November, Edge Group and the Navy concluded an agreement for the creation of autonomous aerial and surface defense systems.
