State Of Pará Will Experience Strong Growth In The Mining Sector, Focused On Sustainability And ESG Practices, Says Ibram President At Seminar
The president of Ibram, Raul Jungmann, participated in the seminar “Pará: Investment Opportunities In The Mining Sector” and commented on the agency’s perspectives for the future of mining in Pará. Also present at the meeting were José Fernando Gomes Júnior, Secretary of Economic Development, Mining and Energy of Pará, representing the Pará governor, Helder Barbalho; José Conrado Azevedo Santos, president of the Federation of Industries of the State of Pará (Fiepa) and Guido Germani, president of the Union of Mineral Industries of the State of Pará (Simineral).
Thus, the discussion about the future of mining in the state was the main point, and Ibram expects strong growth in the region, mainly focusing on the adoption of sustainability and ESG practices in operations.

At a depth of 4 kilometers, with 90-minute descents and heat exceeding 60 °C, an operation only continues to function thanks to the pumping of liquid ice: how far can the endurance of workers in the deepest mine on the planet go?
This is because the president of the agency stated that the future of mining is the adoption of increasingly clean activities regarding environmental impacts and that Ibram will be responsible for ensuring that companies intending to bring their projects to the state comply with these practices.
In addition, Jungmann reinforced Ibram’s role in Pará’s mining in the coming years and emphasized that “Whoever wants a place in the future must pay attention to these three letters: ESG, and besides paying attention, they must practice them. There is concern in the sector about ESG, and it needs to be intensified. The need to move in this direction is growing. Because there is no place in the future for those who are not duly obtaining their environmental license, their social license, and obviously having good governance.”
Ibram Mining Panel Shows Good Results From The State In The Sector And Reinforces The Need For Investment In ESG Practices And Sustainability
In addition to commenting on the current parameters for adopting ESG practices and sustainability in future mining projects in the state, Ibram’s panel also highlighted the results of the region in recent years. This is because, according to the agency’s data, the revenue of 2021 for mining in Brazil was R$ 339 billion, and only the state of Pará contributed R$ 146.5 billion, or 43.2% of the revenue.
And the significant results did not stop there, as regarding the taxes and royalties collected throughout Brazil during the year 2021, the state of Pará’s participation was 43%.
Finally, Ibram also highlighted that, of the total exports from Pará in 2021, which amounted to US$ 57.8 billion, about US$ 25 billion were solely from minerals, thus ensuring a representation of 43% within that total value.
Thus, the state has shown growth in the mining sector, and now Ibram intends to focus on new ventures with companies in the sector, always thinking about sustainability and ESG practices to foster economic growth with environmental responsibility in the region.
