Access to vocational education in Maranhão gets a new boost with the opening of 3,690 spots for free EAD technical courses offered by the Federal Institute (IFMA). Between April 27 and May 27, 2026, interested individuals with a high school diploma can register exclusively online to join the second academic semester.

The selection process, which prioritizes equal opportunities, will be determined by a public electronic lottery scheduled for early June, eliminating the need for traditional exams.

Unlike conventional selection processes, candidate classification will be decided by luck and the order of approved registration.

The electronic lottery is scheduled for June 8, at 3 PM. On this day, the system will organize names in descending order, respecting the vacancy limit and current quota policies.

Furthermore, the schedule establishes that:

  • The official result will be published on June 9.
  • The lists of approved candidates and waitlist must be consulted on the EaD Technical Selection website.
  • In classes where the number of registered students is lower than the number of available spots, there will be no lottery, and enrollment will be direct.
  • There is no possibility of appealing against the final lottery result.

Technical training and in-person support at 58 centers

Although flexibility is the strong point of distance learning, the Federal Institute maintains an essential physical support structure for the quality of learning.

The public notice stipulates that students participate in in-person meetings, activities, and evaluations throughout the semester.

To support this demand, the institution provides 58 service centers distributed throughout the state territory.

Thus, while the student studies remotely most of the time, they have a reference location to validate their knowledge and interact with the academic community.

Upon completing the program, the student receives a mid-level technical diploma, qualifying them for the job market.

How to register?

To ensure participation, candidates must access the official Federal Institute portal within the deadline that ends on May 27. As these are free EAD technical courses, there are no tuition fees or material charges.

Therefore, the main focus for interested individuals should be organizing the documents required by the public notice for the approval of their application.
