What To Expect From The New Toll On The Busiest Highway In Brazil? Be Aware: Failure To Pay Will Be Considered A Serious Offense!

In 2025, the Via Dutra, one of the most important highways in Brazil, will take a leap towards modernity with the implementation of the free flow electronic toll. CCR Rio SP, the company responsible for managing the highway, confirmed this new feature that promises to transform the experience for drivers, according to diariodolitoral.

How The Free Flow System Will Work

The free flow is an innovative toll collection system that eliminates the need for physical toll booths. As drivers pass through a toll point, they will be automatically recorded by sensors that capture the date, time, and vehicle characteristics. Those using tags or payment stickers, such as Sem Parar, will have the fee debited instantly.

For vehicles that do not have this technology, the identification of the license plate will generate a charge within 48 hours. The driver will have a period of 15 days to make the payment, thus avoiding unpleasant surprises.

Toll Value And Charges At The Arujá Toll Booth

The expectation is that the rate for the electronic toll will be R$ 1.40, with the final value being defined by the National Land Transport Agency. This price is based on the charge per kilometer at the Arujá toll booth, which is around R$ 0.15 per kilometer. It is important to note that the installation of free flow will not affect the charges at the Arujá toll booth, maintaining the current structure.

Consequences Of Non-Payment

It is essential for drivers to pay attention to the rules of the free flow. Failure to pay the toll on time may result in severe penalties. Those who fail to pay will face a fine for toll evasion, considered a serious offense, with a penalty of R$ 195.23 and the addition of five points on their National Driver’s License (CNH).
