The First Futuristic Electric Scooter from BMW, Model Named CE 04, Is Still Being Studied for Future Launch in the Country
BMW Motorrad is considering launching the electric scooter CE 04 here in Brazil. With a futuristic design and about 130 km of range, the electric scooter could be the first investment by the German manufacturer in a two-wheeled electrified vehicle. The model uses a liquid-cooled electric motor with 42 hp mounted between the battery and the rear wheel.

The CE 04 electric scooter is quite different even from other models already manufactured by BMW, as it adopts a completely futuristic design with very well-defined and pointed vertices, in the style of cyberpunk movies and games. BMW also invested in a unique color combination, with various orange elements contrasting with gray and black.
In the scooter’s chassis, BMW installed a 60 amp-hour lithium-ion battery that sends electricity to a motor capable of developing around 42 hp and 6 kgfm of torque, with considerable range. According to the manufacturer, the CE 04 electric scooter can reach up to 100 km/h in about 9.1 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 120 km/h. The scooter’s motor is equipped with liquid cooling, while the battery cooling is air-based.

The BMW reported that the range is 130 km when the battery is 100% charged. This number is not very impressive, but the manufacturer stated that the way the scooter is driven can directly affect its range.
Similar to electric cars, the CE 04 scooter has brakes that, when used, regenerate the battery charge, providing some extra kilometers along the way. Additionally, there are four riding modes: the economic option, one for slippery surfaces, one for highways, and the dynamic mode, where all power and torque are applied, albeit with reduced range.
Other Details About the Scooter
On 220V outlets, the CE 04 needs to charge for about 4 hours and 20 minutes to reach 100%, assuming it is completely discharged. With BMW’s charging accessory, the wall box, it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes for a full charge.
The BMW electric scooter is 2.2 meters long, with large wheels measuring 15 inches. The complete structure of the scooter weighs only 230 kg. BMW Motorrad is still analyzing the market to ensure that the CE 04 will be a viable and worthwhile option for Brazilians.
In Germany, the BMW electric scooter is being sold for 12,000 euros, an equivalent of R$ 70,000 at the current conversion rate. This places the CE 04 at the same level as high displacement models, such as the F 850 GS.
