The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) Will Soon Launch a New Public Competition with Hundreds of Positions for Candidates of Intermediate and Higher Levels.
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has just authorized a new competition for permanent positions with 895 vacancies. The hiring, according to the government, may occur starting in December. This is the deadline for provision based on the legal deadlines of the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services. Thus, if the IBGE moves quickly with preparations, the appointments of approved candidates may happen in the coming months.
Check When the Notice for the IBGE Public Competition is Available
The public competition of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE will include opportunities for both intermediate and higher levels. The authorization order was published on July 19, confirming approval for a new IBGE competition for permanent positions and establishing a six-month period for the notice to be released.
Therefore, the document outlining all the rules should be published by January 15 of next year. If the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics does not release it by this date, the order will become void, and a new authorization from the government will be necessary.

The document that authorizes the public competition also estimates that the period between the announcement and the application of the exams will be two months. Thus, the IBGE exams are expected to take place by March 2024 at the latest.
The Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, stated to the press that efforts are being made to ensure that the public competition notice is released this year.
Positions That Will Be Opened in the IBGE Public Competition
The new public competition for entry into the IBGE will have 895 vacancies, with positions available for intermediate and higher levels.
For intermediate level, the position of technician in geographical and statistical information is expected, with 300 vacancies.
For the higher level, the expectation is for planning, management, and infrastructure analyst in geographical and statistical information, with 275 vacancies, geographical and statistical information researcher with 8 vacancies, and technological analyst in geographical and statistical information with 312 vacancies.
The salaries in 2023 for these positions at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics are as follows:
- analyst R$9,910.40 (readjusted and with food allowance);
- technicians R$4,666.24 (readjusted and with food allowance);
- technologist: R$10,891.67 (readjusted and with food allowance);
- researcher : R$9,910.40 (readjusted and with food allowance).
- The value of the food allowance is R$ 658.
But After All, What is Needed for the Notice of the New IBGE Competition to Be Released??
The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE already has the authorization to hold its new competition. Now, the agency is moving forward with internal processes. A coordinating committee has not yet been announced; however, in addition to that, the IBGE must hire an organizing agency.
The chosen institution will receive the public competition applications and will also manage the stages, such as the objective tests. The IBGE has already informed that the hiring of the organizing agency will be conducted through a bidding process to finalize its edition of the notice and schedule.
