The Roads of São Paulo Are About to Undergo a Historic Transformation, with Promises of Lane Expansions, Bike Lanes Extending for Kilometers, and Structural Improvements Aimed at Revolutionizing Mobility in the State.
The Government of São Paulo is allocating R$ 4.3 billion over the next 30 years for an extensive improvement plan for various state highways.
According to information revealed by the Gazeta de S.Paulo newspaper, the project includes the duplication of 90 kilometers of roads, the construction of 73 kilometers of bike lanes, and the addition of passing lanes and shoulders in several regions. However, the start date for toll collection on the new roads has not yet been disclosed.
Investments and Improvements in Highways
Duplications and Bike Lanes: One of the central points of investment includes the duplication of the Bertioga-Santos section of SP-055 (Rio-Santos), which will also feature a bike lane along its entire length.

Tolls and Control Systems
- Investments in Collection Systems
According to the Technical and Economic Feasibility Study, the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) underpinning this project anticipates an expenditure of R$ 87 million on systems and equipment for toll collection, with R$ 25.6 million to be applied in the first year of the contract.
The toll rates have been set between R$ 1.00 and R$ 6.00 in the Coastal Lot, with a charge of R$ 0.20 per kilometer for dual lanes and R$ 0.14 for single lanes.
- Enforcement Systems
In addition to the tolls, the study projects an investment of R$ 29.2 million in control and enforcement systems, including R$ 16.8 million for installation of radars and R$ 12.4 million for vehicle weighing scales, ensuring safety and efficiency on the highways.
Third Lanes and Safety on São Paulo Highways
- Passing Lanes
The project also includes the construction of 10 kilometers of third lanes in the Mogi-Bertioga stretch, along with the recovery of four kilometers of marginal lanes and the construction of 47 kilometers of shoulders.
- Escape Ramps in the Mountains
In the Serra do Mar, three escape ramps will be built at kilometers 78.1, 84.4, and 88.5 for heavy vehicles. These ramps are designed to increase safety on steep descents, preventing accidents in case of brake failure.
With so many changes anticipated, do you believe that these improvements to São Paulo’s highways will truly bring long-term benefits, or will the new tolls be an obstacle for drivers?
Sou moradora do macuco há exatamente 55 anos, sou proprietária fico preocupada com as desapropriações,não tenho idade nem saúde para financiar outro imóvel.Até agora não fomos notificados ,o que farão com 220 famílias prejudicadas com esse projeto feito dentro do bairro macuco, sendo que tem outros traçados que não afetaria às famílias que ali vivem!!NAO SOMOS CONTRA O TÚNEL E SIM CONTRA AS DESAPROPRIAÇÕES!!
Desde que fizeram a rodovia Santos/ Rio ; Rio Santos; SP 55, sempre se falou em duplicação desta rodovia! Vi essa rodovia ser asfaltada e depois disso nenhuma melhora de infraestrutura foi feita (apenas conversas que iria duplicar)! Com o passar dos anos ocorreu a ampliação de construções e formações de bairros e em algumas praias a rodovia tendo seu espaço ocupado por construções (como resolver isso)!
Atualmente o volume de carros aumentou em muito nas rodovias e nas rodovias litorâneas. Com o passar dos anos as cidades e bairros do litoral foram ampliando e desta forma ampliando o aumento de usuário na rodovia a deixando obsoleta para o volume de tráfego.
Falta opções de trajetos e ou pontos de descida/subida para o litoral. Para seguir ao litoral de Santos a Bertiiga temos a Rodovia Mogi/Bertioga ; Anchieta e Imigrantes.
Para seguir viagem ao litoral norte a partir da Rodovia Mogi Bertioga a São Sebastião/ Ilha Bela, não tem nenhum outro ponto de interligação entre o Planalto e Litoral.
Seguindo do complexo Anchieta / Imigrantes a Peruibe é a mesma situação, não tem nenhum outro ponto de interligação entre litoral e Planalto e os problemas citados do litoral norte segue os mesmos para o sul.
Há anos se falam em melhorias e projetos de construção de outra rodovia (se não me falha a memória teria um projeto aprovado para uma nova rodovia para o litoral sul) não sei mais se isso sai!
Os problemas são vários desde acessibilidade para o litoral que as rodovias existentes não suportam mais o volume de veículos, segurança devido a muitos cruzamentos em nível tanto de veículos e como de pedestres e fluidez na rodovia.
Com certeza todas melhorias são bem vindas e atualmente são de extrema urgência.
Mas, porém e entretanto tem que se pensar também em retirar certos impostos tais como o IPVA por exemplo por que se vai colocar mais Pedagios para passar de carro por que pagamos tantos impostos! Concordo a rodovia fica com a manutenção em ordem porém estamos pagando novamente.
Um último detalhe, por que as prefeituras dessas cidades litorânea não se juntam com o governo do Estado para buscar soluções para múltiplos projetos, ex: Rodovias e transporte!
