New ITA Campus in Ceará Advances Ahead of Schedule, Focusing on Engineering, Technology, and Regional Development by 2026.
The new ITA campus in Ceará, in Fortaleza, is progressing at a pace faster than planned, with an estimated completion date by 2026, thanks to the collaboration between the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the Ministry of Education (MEC), FNDE, and the government of Ceará.
The project, which marks the first expansion of the Aeronautics Institute of Technology outside of São José dos Campos, totals nearly R$ 180 million in investments and aims to enhance training in engineering and technology.

For the first time, the institution breaks the limits of the Southeast region and consolidates its presence in the Northeast, a strategic area for the expansion of technological higher education in Brazil.
In addition, the project symbolizes a policy of decentralization and inland development of high-level scientific training.
Thus, ITA Ceará expands access to excellent courses and contributes to reducing regional disparities in the fields of education and innovation.
Robust Investment Accelerates Construction and Ensures Schedule
The first phase of the new campus received more than R$ 70 million, allocated for the implementation of essential structures.
This initial funding allowed the construction to advance beyond the original schedule, maintaining the overall completion estimate for November 2026.
In total, the investment approaches R$ 180 million, highlighting the priority given to the project.
Therefore, ITA Ceará emerges as one of the largest educational initiatives in engineering and technology ever realized in the Northeast in recent years.
Modern Structure Strengthens Engineering and Technology
The initial phase includes two academic blocks, each with three floors.
One of them was designed to house modern classrooms, an expanded library, and upgraded laboratories, especially focused on Engineering courses.
These environments were planned to meet the requirements of advanced teaching and applied research.
Housing and Energy Autonomy Reinforce Campus Operations
The second block focuses on student housing, with a capacity for 88 students.
The proposal combines comfort, efficiency, and proximity to academic activities, promoting integration among study, research, and community life.
Meanwhile, a dedicated electrical substation is under development.
This facility, developed in partnership with the state government, ensures energy autonomy for ITA Ceará, reinforcing operational safety and ensuring the continuous performance of academic and scientific activities.
Second Phase Expands Infrastructure and Integration with Air Force Base
The second phase of construction is already underway and maintains the conclusion deadline for November 2026.
This phase includes improvements in areas of the Air Force Base that will be permanently incorporated into the new campus.
These interventions will integrate into the permanent infrastructure of the unit.
The focus, therefore, is to ensure full operation, future expansion, and adequate support for teaching, research, and innovation activities.
Educational Impact and Regional Development in Ceará
When completed, ITA Ceará is expected to establish itself as a national reference in research, innovation, and training in engineering and technology.
Thus, the expectation is that the campus attracts students from various regions of Brazil, strengthening the academic and scientific environment in the Northeast.
In addition, the project expands opportunities for young people interested in technological and engineering careers.
Consequently, the advancement of the new campus in Fortaleza reinforces regional development, positioning Ceará as a strategic hub in the Brazilian educational and scientific landscape.
