Federal Institute Opens Slots for Free Courses in Environmental Management, Managerial Processes, Administration, and the Environment. Enroll Now!
The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) announced the opening of slots for over 170 free courses that will start in the first semester of 2025. The opportunity includes options for integrated high school with technical education, technical courses, and undergraduate programs, available at its 17 campuses spread throughout the state.
Free Courses Available at the Federal Institute
The Federal Institute offers a wide range of courses to cater to different student profiles.
Interested individuals can enroll in integrated high school technical courses, which include Youth and Adult Education (EJA), as well as technical courses for those attending high school at other institutions and subsequent courses for those who have already completed high school.

The courses are offered at 17 campuses, including Alvorada, Bento Gonçalves, Canoas, Caxias do Sul, Erechim, Farroupilha, Feliz, Ibirubá, Osório, Porto Alegre, Restinga (Porto Alegre), Rio Grande, Rolante, Sertão, Vacaria, Veranópolis, and Viamão.
The exception is the technical course in Didactic Multimedia, offered at the Osório Campus in distance mode.
Slots and Selection Processes at the Viamão Campus
For the Viamão Campus, there are available slots in various modalities and shifts. Among the options are:
- Technology in Environmental Management: Undergraduate, with 40 slots for evening students, with admission by ENEM or exam.
- Technology in Managerial Processes: Undergraduate, with 40 slots also for evening students, with admission by ENEM or exam.
- Technical in Administration: Integrated with High School, with morning and afternoon slots for 36 students in each shift, selected by lottery.
- Technical in Environment: Integrated with High School, with morning and afternoon slots for 36 students in each shift, selected by lottery.
Registrations and Selection Process Fee
Individuals interested in applying for the Federal Institute’s free courses must register for the Selection Process for the first semester of 2025.
The registration period is from September 26 to October 14, 2024. Although the courses are free, there is a registration fee.

However, candidates with low income can request a waiver of the registration fee until September 25, 2024.
Details of the Federal Institute’s Selection Process
The selection process for the courses at the Federal Institute may vary according to the course and campus. The selection methods include exams, using the score from the National High School Exam (Enem) since 2019, or a lottery among the applicants.
Specific information about the selection method for each course is available in the list of courses published on the official IFRS website.
For those interested in participating in the Federal Institute’s selection process, the key dates to note are as follows: the request for a waiver of the registration fee must be made between September 12 and 25, 2024.
The result of this request will be announced on September 26. The notices with the details of the student selection will also be published on September 26.
The registration period for the Selection Process will be from September 26 to October 14, with the payment of the registration fee being able to be completed by October 15.
For courses selected by lottery, the Federal Institute will conduct the lottery on November 12, and for courses that require an exam, the exam will be held on November 24.
