Klabin Will Invest R$ 1.7 Billion in Modernizing Its Factory in Telemaco Borba. The Project Promises to Generate Up to 1,800 New Jobs and Is Aligned with the Company’s Sustainability and Efficiency Goals, with Completion Expected by the End of 2026.
Klabin, one of the leaders in the paper and pulp sector in Brazil, announced an ambitious project to modernize its factory located in Telemaco Borba, Paraná. The decision was approved by the Board of Directors during a meeting last Wednesday (06/26), aiming for a significant boost in efficiency and sustainability, while also generating thousands of job opportunities for local residents.
Klabin Modernizes Factory with Recovery Boiler
The plan includes the installation of a new recovery boiler, an essential component in the paper and pulp production process.
This boiler plays a crucial role in recovering chemicals used in cooking wood and generating steam from black liquor, a byproduct of the process.

Instead of demolishing old coal warehouses, London doubled their roofs until they met in the center and created one of the most curious renovations in King’s Cross.
-
Fungi transform engineered wood that is impossible to recycle into low-carbon insulation panels, reduce construction waste, save energy, and create a sustainable alternative for walls, floors, and roofs.
-
Bottle caps and pine sawdust replace discarded wood in concrete molds, reduce waste, reuse household residues, and create sustainable solutions in Brazilian construction projects.

While common slabs require expensive traditional concrete and constant maintenance, tests show that fibers from discarded carpets reduce life cycle costs and divert tons of textile waste from landfills.
The initiative not only ensures the operational continuity of the Monte Alegre Unit but also promises to significantly improve its efficiency and competitiveness in the market.
The total investment of R$ 1.7 billion, to be disbursed between 2024 and 2027, includes about R$ 180 million in recoverable taxes and will be financed with the company’s available resources, without compromising its financial leverage.
This project is aligned with the investment projections announced by Klabin at the end of 2023, demonstrating a continued commitment to sustainable growth.
Company Estimates to Create 1,800 Jobs During Peak Construction of Modernization
In addition to the economic and environmental benefits, the modernization of the factory promises to have significant positive impacts on job creation.
During the peak of construction, it is estimated that up to 1,800 new jobs will be created, providing an important employment opportunity for the local community.
The new boiler is expected to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking an important milestone in Klabin’s trajectory of innovation and development in Telemaco Borba.
