The Head Of State Of The Republic Said That Any Disputes Over Signed Contracts Belong To The Political Arena, Not The Courts.
In an interview aired on the morning of this Tuesday (21), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated that he has already instructed the president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, to suspend all asset sales, shortly after announcing new investments and job openings in the oil and gas sector in Espírito Santo.
“We have already communicated to the president of Petrobras, Jean Paul, that all asset transactions must be suspended. They cannot continue selling,” he stated. The president then emphasized that the issues would be resolved through political means.
“Clearly, people had already signed contracts for certain things. All of this involves a judicial dispute that we want to resolve, but we will do so through politics and not the courts,” he said.

Lula emphasized that the government must transform Petrobras back into an excellent investment company. “Petrobras was not designed to export crude oil,” he concluded. “Petrobras is not just an oil company, it is an energy company, it must be concerned with gasoline, diesel, and biodiesel.”
