First to Offer Transshipment
Performing transshipment, or the transfer of goods or containers, primarily to an intermediate destination before it reaches its final destination, is known as transshipment. Gru Cargo, operating at Guarulhos Airport, is the first to offer the procedure in the country. The regulation is in local ordinance ALF/GRU no 46. It provides that cargo arriving from other countries can be received in São Paulo, through cargo known as House Air Waybill, HAWB, in English, and then ship on international flights.

Largest Airport Complex in Brazil
The Cargo Terminal (TECA) at the international airport in Guarulhos is the largest in the country. It covers approximately 100,000 m2, and it also houses the largest cold storage complex among all Brazilian airports. It has about 30,000 m3 of storage capacity and attends to foreign trade in imports and exports. With 24 cold chambers, all temperature ranges are reached, and it caters to all types of products.
The cold storage complex has space to accommodate 440 refrigerated import containers. The service is regarded as a convenience that provides comfort and reliability, since the process is conducted through a monitoring mechanism integrated with the GRU Airport’s CMS storage system, carried out by the TECA team. According to customer needs, measurements are frequently taken, with three standard measurements per day, which can extend up to six measurements daily. With each monitoring, there is the possibility of data availability.
Regarding exports, GRU Airport Cargo also shows the largest volume by air. There are connections to 34 countries, and it serves as a corridor for exported cargo, with daily processing of air pallets, making the process fast and secure. Since July 2020, TECA customers have also exclusively provided the GRU CARGO app. The app represents a convenience for accessing cargo information. The São Paulo airport was the first to offer this service.
