The Largest Bridge in São Paulo Will Be Duplicated with an Investment of R$ 353.9 Million. The New Structure Will Feature Two More Lanes and Improvements to the Current Bridge. The Project Is Part of the Modernization of SP-333 and Promises to Boost Logistics, Safety, and the Economy of the Region.
The interior of São Paulo is about to experience one of the largest transformations in its road infrastructure.
The duplication of the largest bridge in the state of São Paulo is not just an ambitious project, but a strategic necessity for the region’s development.
The structure connecting Novo Horizonte to Pongaí will receive a new parallel lane, modernizing transportation flow and ensuring more safety for drivers and pedestrians.

Mercado Livre “opens the vault” and announces a record investment of R$ 57 billion in Brazil in 2026, a value 50% higher than the previous year, with an expansion plan that includes 14 new logistics centers, totaling 42 units in the country and hiring an additional 10,000 employees.
Giant Project to Boost Regional Logistics
According to the channel Construction Time, the Engenheiro Gilberto Paim Pamplona bridge, which extends 2.4 km over the Tietê River, will be duplicated with an investment of approximately R$ 353.9 million.
The new structure will feature two more lanes, while the current bridge will undergo improvements, including the installation of modern lighting and adaptation for pedestrian passage.
The grandeur of the project can be exemplified by the amount of materials used. It is estimated that over 3,900 tons of steel and 5,000 trucks of concrete will be used. To put this in perspective, this amount of concrete could fill about 20 Olympic swimming pools or erect approximately 60 Christ the Redeemer statues.
Strategic Infrastructure and Modernization of SP-333
According to Construction Time, the duplication of the bridge is part of a broader plan aimed at modernizing the SP-333 highway, one of the main logistics corridors in the region.
In addition to the bridge, the project includes the duplication of 52.4 km of the highway between Borborema and Guarantã, with an additional investment of R$ 4 million.
The engineering director of Entrevias, the concessionaire responsible for the work, Paulo Negreiros, emphasized the relevance of the duplication:
“This is our most significant investment, both in terms of complexity and size. This project has been planned for years and will be executed to the highest standards of engineering.”
Innovative Construction Methods Ensure Less Environmental Impact
The construction will use precast concrete beams and a construction method known as successive cantilevers, essential to avoid interrupting navigation on the Tietê-Paraná waterway.
Additionally, 124 piles will be installed for support, with 112 within the riverbed and the remaining incorporated into the bridge’s heads.
To minimize environmental impacts, strict measures are being adopted.
According to Construction Time, the excavation process will be monitored to prevent contamination of the river, and the materials removed will be treated before disposal.
CETESB supervises all stages to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Job Creation and Economic Benefits with the Bridge
With the duplication of the bridge, a significant impact on the local economy is expected.
It is estimated that over a thousand direct and indirect jobs will be created, boosting the development of the cities near SP-333.
Additionally, the new structure will allow for more efficient transportation of agricultural and industrial production in the region, reducing logistics costs and improving the sector’s competitiveness.
Comparison with Major International Projects
The duplication of the São Paulo bridge can be compared to other major infrastructure works around the world.
As highlighted by Construction Time, the expansion of the George Washington Bridge in the United States took an innovative route by adding a second level below the original structure, doubling its traffic capacity.
While the American solution was different, the São Paulo bridge stands out for its length and the use of modern techniques to minimize environmental impacts and maintain vehicle flow during construction.
Delivery Forecast and Future Impact of the Bridge
The project is expected to be completed in two years, with delivery estimated for August 2026.
The modernization of the infrastructure will not only benefit drivers and transporters but also boost tourism and the region’s economy.
The duplication of the Engenheiro Gilberto Paim Pamplona bridge is a landmark for Brazilian engineering. But will the project really be delivered on time? Share your opinion in the comments!

Confio no governador Tarcísio. Parabéns
