Petrobras announced, last Monday, 24, the identification of hydrocarbons in the pre-salt of the Campos Basin, reinforcing the exploratory potential of the region. The discovery occurred in the North Brava block, through the exploratory well 1-BRSA-1394-RJS, located 105 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 575 meters. This discovery reinforces Petrobras’s commitment to expanding reserves in the Brazilian pre-salt.

The drilling of the well has been completed, and currently, Petrobras is conducting the final profiling for a detailed evaluation of the hydrocarbons found.

The presence of hydrocarbons in the North Brava block was confirmed through electrical profiles, evidence of gas, and fluid sampling.

The acquisition of the North Brava block by Petrobras occurred in December 2022, during the 1st Cycle of the Permanent Production Sharing Offering, a bidding process conducted by ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels).

The management of the contract is under the responsibility of PPSA (Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A.), and Petrobras is the exclusive operator of the block, holding 100% participation.
