Marcopolo Will Invest R$ 50 Million in Expanding Its Factory in São Mateus (Espírito Santo) to Produce Electric Buses. This Investment Will Be Responsible for Generating 400 Job Openings for Local Residents.
Last Tuesday, (06/12), Marcopolo announced an investment of R$ 50 million in expanding its factory in São Mateus, in the northern part of the State of Espírito Santo. The focus of the investment is to initiate the unprecedented production of electric buses in the region, with the expectation of generating around 400 new job openings.
The New Electric Bus from Marcopolo Will Revolutionize Public Transport
The company plans to produce the Attivi Integral, its first bus with its own body and chassis, fully electric.
With a capacity for 80 passengers, a range of up to 280 kilometers, and a charging time of four hours, the Attivi represents a significant advancement in offering sustainable solutions for public transport.

Currently, Marcopolo produces about 16 vehicles daily in São Mateus, and with the addition of the Attivi, the production capacity will be increased to 26 vehicles per day.
Government of Espírito Santo Acquires 50 Electric Buses from Marcopolo
The information was disclosed at a press conference held at the Palácio Anchieta, in Vitória, with the presence of state government representatives and Marcopolo executives.
During the event, it was announced that the state government plans to acquire, by 2025, 50 electric buses from the manufacturer to integrate into the Transcol fleet, strengthening the energy transition in public transport in Espírito Santo.
Governor Renato Casagrande emphasized the importance of the expansion at Marcopolo’s factory for generating jobs and income in Espírito Santo.
“This expansion of Marcopolo is essential for us to generate more jobs and income for the people of Espírito Santo. The state government will start purchasing 50 new electric vehicles so that we can begin our energy transition. During COP-28, we announced the replacement of fossil fuels in our light vehicle fleet with biofuel and will start replacing the Transcol System fleet with electric vehicles,” said Casagrande.
Ricardo Ferraço, the lieutenant governor and secretary of Development, highlighted that the announcement consolidates Marcopolo’s commitment to the state’s development.
“Marcopo is a Brazilian company from Rio Grande do Sul, but it has become part of Espírito Santo and will grow even more.”
The Company’s Investments in the State Exceed R$ 300 Million, Along with Nearly 2,000 Job Openings Generated
The factory expansion is scheduled for the first months of 2024, marking the 2nd phase of Marcopolo’s presence in Espírito Santo.
Since its arrival in 2014, the company has invested around R$ 350 million in the state, generating 1,900 jobs.
Marcelo’s CEO, André Armaganijan, emphasized the strategic choice of Espírito Santo for the expansion, highlighting the favorable location that allows serving both the national and international markets.
These new investments not only strengthen Marcopolo’s presence in Espírito Santo but also contribute to the advancement of the electric vehicle industry in Brazil, marking a significant step towards sustainability in public transport.
