New Measure from the Federal Revenue Allows MEI to Pay DAS with Credit Card, Install Taxes, and Keep Social Security Benefits Active
The Federal Revenue announced an important change for Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEIs). Starting this Wednesday (17), payment of the National Simple Collection Document (DAS) can also be made with a credit card.
Until now, payment was only possible via bank slip, PIX or automatic debit.
The measure aims to expand payment options and offer more convenience for those who need to keep their tax obligations up to date.

The novelty applies to both monthly DAS, Collection DAS, and Excess Revenue DAS, addressing different situations of the microentrepreneur.
More Flexibility for the MEI
According to the Federal Revenue, the new feature allows entrepreneurs to choose the most convenient way to pay their taxes, which includes the option of installment payments on the card. This ensures flexibility in cash flow and can help avoid delays that jeopardize business regularity.
Sebrae emphasizes that paying the DAS is essential for maintaining social security benefits and for MEI formalization. The contribution guarantees access to retirement at age or disability, sickness aid, prison assistance, death pension, and maternity salary.
Additionally, keeping the DAS up to date preserves tax regularity, an essential factor for issuing invoices and participating in public tenders.
How to Pay DAS with Credit Card
The payment process is simple and can be done directly on the National Simple portal, through the option “Pay Online”. The microentrepreneur must access the DAS Generator Program for MEI (PGMEI), select the calculation period, and choose the payment option.
Once directed to the e-Arrecada platform, just select “Credit Card,” enter the requested information, and confirm the transaction.
The system also allows choosing the number of installments, offering more alternatives to organize finances.
Impact on Small Businesses
Experts assess that the change makes life easier for the microentrepreneur who often faces difficulties in reconciling payment and receipt deadlines. Paying in installments with a card can be an ally in times of financial stress, avoiding default and ensuring the continuity of social security coverage.
With over 15 million MEIs registered in the country, the expectation is that the measure will help reduce the default rate and further strengthen this formalization model, which represents one of the main gateways to entrepreneurship in Brazil.
